Getting to know Alice Abdurrazzaaq

About Alice Abdur-Razzaaq, PMHNP-BC I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with nearly twenty years of experience in the mental health field, serving individuals and families across both Europe and North America. My work is grounded in compassion, cultural understanding, and a deep belief that healing begins when people feel genuinely seen and heard. I approach every patient as a whole person—not a diagnosis—recognizing that mental health is closely tied to our stories, relationships, and life experiences. As a provider, I specialize in treating mood disorders, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, depression, and life transitions. My practice style blends evidence-based medicine with a strong focus on empathy, education, and empowerment. I take time to listen carefully, collaborate openly, and design individualized treatment plans that meet patients where they are while helping them build toward where they want to be. I believe that mental health care should feel personal, approachable, and human. My philosophy—“care that truly cares”—reflects my commitment to creating a safe, judgment-free space where you can express yourself openly and work through challenges with support and respect. I also value integrating medication management with holistic approaches such as mindfulness, therapy collaboration, and lifestyle strategies that strengthen overall well-being. Through my practice, Bold City Behavioral Health, I’ve had the privilege of helping individuals discover stability, clarity, and renewed hope. Whether you’re taking your first step toward care or continuing your journey, I’m dedicated to walking alongside you—helping you achieve balance, resilience, and lasting emotional wellness.

What should a new client know about working with you?

At Bold City Behavioral Health, my approach is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and evidence-based care. I believe mental health treatment should be personal, respectful, and empowering. Together, we’ll explore not only symptoms but also the underlying causes—helping you gain insight, balance, and confidence in your daily life. During sessions, I take a conversational, judgment-free approach. I’ll listen carefully to your experiences, explain treatment options clearly, and involve you in every decision. Whether we’re adjusting medication, exploring coping tools, or identifying lifestyle supports, my goal is to help you feel heard, informed, and in control of your care. You can expect a blend of professionalism and genuine care—because at Bold City Behavioral Health, I believe in “Care that truly cares.”

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first session is all about getting to know you. We’ll talk through your history, current concerns, and goals so I can understand the full picture of what you’re experiencing. I take time to explain my impressions and discuss possible diagnoses, treatment options, and medication plans when appropriate. Follow-up sessions focus on progress and adjustment. We’ll review how medications or coping strategies are working, explore what’s changing in your life, and make thoughtful updates to your plan. While medication management is a core part of my role, I also integrate supportive talk therapy, mindfulness, and education to help you feel grounded and empowered between visits. My goal is to create a calm, judgment-free space where you feel safe, understood, and actively involved in your care every step of the way.
