Dr. Alicia Grefenson, PsyD

Psychologist
CA
I believe deeply that every person has the ability to work through loss, sadness, anxiety and other painful experiences to become more fully alive. When we avoid or numb uncomfortable or difficult feelings, we also numb our ability to feel joy, peace of mind, gratitude and love. Speaking our truths in the presence of empathy, warmth and non-judgement can be the first step towards healing. I’m a licensed psychologist who works with adolescents and adults on issues related to depression, anxiety, grief and loss, impulse control, addiction, trauma and sexuality. I received my PsyD from the California Institute of Integral Studies, which nurtured my belief that the path of healing must include mind, body and spirit. My therapeutic approach is eclectic – my training is primarily psychodynamic, but I am also experienced in cognitive-behavioral therapy and mindfulness practices. My starting point is you, exactly where you are. Together, we’ll create a path that will help you use your strengths to work with the issues that get in the way of your happiness and peace. My hope is to create a space of warmth, trust, support and safety, one that will allow you to explore and transform what keeps you from living whole-heartedly. I look forward to meeting you.
