Getting to know Alicia Olson

My primary role in your mental health care involves medication management. For some, that means starting and continuing medications; for others, it means safely stopping medications. An evaluation can help us determine the best route forward for your mental health. I am also passionate about how diet, exercise, and lifestyle interventions can help improve your mental health. I received my Bachelor's in Nursing from Winona State University in Minnesota in 2007. Initially, I worked in a medical hospital. I found myself gravitating towards patients with chronic illnesses. After four years, I discovered my passion for helping people on their mental health journey. After working for six years on an inpatient psychiatric unit (hospital setting) in various nursing roles, I received my Master's in Nursing from the University of North Dakota. Since 2017, I have been working full-time as a psychiatric provider at a local mental health hospital, providing mental health treatment to people across the lifespan. I enjoy working with clients across the lifespan but have the most experience with adolescents, young adults, and adults. I work with patients with many mental health problems, including (but not limited to) depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and schizophrenia, using medications and supportive therapy. I also utilize diet and exercise modifications in your treatment. In my personal time, I love spending time outdoors with my partner and our dogs. I love to read, run, craft, and color. I am excited to meet you and start working together!
