Epilepsy, in particular, is highly unpredictable and often a chaotic condition for both the affected individual and their caregivers. When you meet with Dr. Dolce, the overarching goal will be to achieve seizure freedom. To do this, she will spend the necessary time to consider each patient's unique form of epilepsy, the evidence for any treatment's potential benefits or harms, and she will take into consideration your values and preferences. Her goal is to build trust and to really hear what matters most to you. For those individuals who continue to have seizures despite medications, there is often a delicate balancing act between seizure reduction and side effects from treatment. Dr. Dolce works very closely with parents and caregivers to get to a place where patients feel the least impact on their day-to-day lives while maintaining the highest possible level of functioning. For over a decade, Dr Dolce has provided care to numerous individuals and families dealing with refractory epilepsy within the DFW Metroplex and beyond. This has earned her a reputation as one of the area's top pediatric specialists in D Magazine. Prior to co-founding The Epilepsy Care Center, she was an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, Neurology, and Neurotherapeutics at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, as well as the clinical neurophysiology fellowship program director and the Co-director of the Tuberous Sclerosis Clinic. She also advanced as a leading expert in the field of neonatal/fetal neurology. She has been a speaker at regional, national, and international conferences and has peer-reviewed publications including book chapters and original reviews.
