Getting to know Alison Hodges

I grew up in the Carolinas and went to at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology and Studio Art. I moved to Florida to attend nursing school and continued my education receiving my Master’s degree in Nursing. I received both my BSN and Masters from Jacksonville University. I worked as an RN in Jacksonville, Florida for several years then started my nurse practitioner career working in both cardiology and family practice for over 10 years. My focus the last few years has been on mental health, family therapy and more as that is where I believe I can make the biggest difference. I love working people and specifically helping people. Compared to all specialties in healthcare, mental health gives a special glimpse into the nuances of what makes us all so differently wonderful. I love getting to know my patients, where they came from and their histories and to see patient’s grow and change. My goal is to help patient’s overcome any hurdles they may face and to help them reach contentment in life. I enjoy working with all type of patients but I believe I really shine with patients that struggle with anxiety conditions such as Generalized anxiety (GAD), panic attacks, phobias, and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). And a side note….. I have never met a dog I didn’t like and find animals to be some of the best healers!
