“Miss Alissa is a speech therapy superhero who brings so much joy to my 2.5-year-old in a struggling daycare environment. With the patience of a saint stuck at the DMV for a decade, she makes every session fun and comforting for him. He perks up when she walks in his room just as much as when he is getting his favorite chocolate waffle cookie. She’s great at explaining strategies to parents and frazzled daycare teachers, and her energy could outshine a well caffeinated squirrel. If you need a speech therapist who is going to always put your child’s needs above everything else, book her before she starts teaching dolphins how to talk. ”

About Alissa Hall

I am considered a private-pay provider and do not bill insurance companies. Alissa Hall earned her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of South Florida and has worked in the 1:1 setting for 9 years, where she diagnoses and treats children who have communication disorders from 1 to 21 years of age. Alissa's professional interests include language and literacy. She enjoys "caregiver coaching," helping parents of late-talkers learn ways to improve communication through play and daily life tasks. In addition, Alissa enjoys making progress in areas of literacy and reading disorders. She attended a 30-hour comprehensive Orton-Gillingham training course through IMSE and has incorporated individualized reading intervention into one-on-one therapy sessions. In 2020, her work transitioned from face-to-face to virtual, and since that time, her students of all ages and abilities have continued to progress with their language and literacy skills from home. She has also taught English to children of all ages in China virtually, and through that experience, has learned ways to truly connect with students from a distance while keeping lessons engaging. As a lifelong learner, Alissa is currently pursuing further reading intervention certifications and stays up to date with evidence-based practice in both the science of reading (SoR) and communication disorders.

Ms. Alissa is someone who you want to have as part of your child's therapy team. She is a true asset in that she creates customized goals to meet our family's needs, advocates for our child at school, goes above and beyond in finding helpful resources for home practice, and ensures our child is learning while having fun. Our child always perks up when he sees her, as if he knows that she is there to guide him through his challenges. Each week we notice improvements in his communication skills and his confidence and we are sure that it has to do with his work with Ms. Alissa!
Alissa has a wonderful calm and friendly manner. She blends the speech therapy very smoothly into engaging games that my child doesn’t want to stop playing! She’s provided us with very doable between session practice. Alissa tunes in closely during sessions to identify my child’s particular areas of struggle and then adapts the content of sessions to specifically target what my kid most needs help with. She’s was very prompt in getting us in for our initial virtual assessment, and has been understanding and accommodating around our busy Schedule. Highly recommended!
Our daughter worked with Ms. Alissa and we couldn't be happier with her help. When we started tutoring with Ms. Alissa, our daughter was in the 3rd grade and she was testing at a second grade reading level (2.6). After 7 months of weekly tutoring sessions, she tested at grade level 4.1 with a month left of third grade! Ms. Alissa was very accommodating to our schedules, kind, and thorough. She created reading lessons around our daughter's interests, holidays, and vacations which kept our daughter excited for each session. We strongly recommend Ms. Alissa. She is fantastic!
My daughter’s confidence with reading and writing have improved tremendously since starting with Mrs. Alissa. She was really struggling with her first grade spelling and sight word lists but Alissa showed us many different ways that were fun for my daughter to practice. Alissa has been very creative with structuring the sessions and we’ve tried some different set-ups. There have been sessions that our whole family gets involved and we were up and moving around, and sessions where we try having her work more independently. I see benefits in both. Overall this has been so convenient for our schedule, her reading fluency has improved tremendously, and we all look forward to our time with Alissa!
