About Dr. Aliza Ben-Zacharia
My specialty is Multiple Sclerosis (MS), with more than 20 years of experience in this field. I hold a PhD in Nursing from New York University, a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Case Western Reserve University, and a Master’s in Human Nutrition from Columbia University. I have volunteered and led patient educational programs and professional initiatives with the National MS Society. For 20 years, I worked at the Corinne Goldsmith Dickinson Center for MS. This year, I opened my own MS practice, offering both Telehealth and in-person new and follow-up MS visits. Additionally, I am a licensed medical marijuana prescriber in New York State.
I am an assistant professor at Mount Sinai and the School of Nursing at Hunter College, City University of New York. I have a passion for deepening the understanding of neurological diseases and improving care for patients with MS. My clinical background includes roles as an adult-acute nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist. I have served as the past president of the International Organization of Multiple Sclerosis Nurses (IOMSN) and as the associate director of the Center for Nursing Research and Innovation at Mount Sinai Hospital.
As a researcher, I recognize the talent and skill required to leverage science to inform public policy and enhance clinical practice. My current research interests focus on technology use in neurology, palliative care in neurology, and the impact of environmental factors such as BMI on MS progression, cognitive function, and brain volume in patients with MS.

Dr. Aliza Ben Zacharia has been one of the most influential doctors in my MS care. She always goes above and beyond and has genuine concern for the well being of each patient. She has also been around movement disorders for 25 years & understands your condition which is a blessing.

Dr. Ben Zachariah is very professional and respectful. She immediately listened to my Health concerns and has been working closely with me to ensure I receive the appropriate treatments. I have a Medicaid Managed Care Plan MetroPlus. Dr. Ben Zachariah has been the only provider willing to walk me through the necessary processes and thoroughly provides the support necessary for my treatment to occur correctly. She has been advocating for my care and has no problem with case conferencing with other providers within my care plan to ensure that comprehensive quality care is ongoing for myself.
