What should a new client know about working with you?
I’m not here to judge or talk "at" you. I’m here to figure things out with you. You don’t need to come in knowing exactly what to say or what’s “wrong.” Just show up as you are, and we will take it from there.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
First, I just want to get to know you. I will learn about what’s going on, what’s working and what’s not. From there, we’ll talk through options together and come up with a plan that actually makes sense for you. I take a personalized approach based on evidence-based practice.

After seeing Alula Haile for about a month, I started to see some red flag behaviors. I notified him well in advance of labs but he would never send the requisition to the lab after claiming that he had. Instead, he would email it to me directly **HOURS** after the appointment was scheduled and in one case tell me "I'm not sure if you're getting my e-mails" when he hadn't sent it at all.
When I had symptoms of lithium toxicity, he was informed well in advance of the lab appointment but did not send me the lab requisition until HOURS after the appointment - long enough that I literally could not stick around and continue to wait. When you have bipolar, you understand that you're choosing between "risk my job because of doctor appointments" and "risk my job because of mania", and thanks to Haile, I found myself somehow choosing both.
Lithium toxicity is potentially fatal. This lack of professionalism could be really costly to any patient he has. It's not a joke. Do not see this man.

His approach to treatment considers the symptoms in the context of the whole person, so appointments run an hour long, but everything is thorough so you get the correct diagnosis and treatment. Alula is a compassionate person. Willing to listen to the patient to prescribe appropriate medications for ailments. Excellent pyschiatrist, highly recommend! Even when he moved practices, I sought to find Alula and continue our therapy sessions. Alula is the best out there.

Getting help from Alula has truly turned my life 180. I was iffy at first as I never experienced psychiatric/mental help and told him that the first appointment. Our conversations made me comfortable to follow his lead and trust in him. Not only did he help find the medications that work for me, but also encouraged positive lifestyle changes/habits. Honestly I was nervous going into the appointment but Alula made me feel comfortable right away. He really listened and not just to what I was saying but understood how I was feeling inside. I didn’t feel rushed or judged which has been rare in my experience. I have gone through so many others from big names but I got tired of losing them to other companies. I definitely felt cared for and comfortable during my first visit. He is extremely compassionate and took the time to truly understand me. His thoughtfulness and passion really showed throughout the appointment. He went above and beyond the level of care was exemplary.
