About Dr. Alvin Berlot

My philosophy aligns with Sir William Osler, MD, who said: “The good physician treats the disease, but the great physician treats the entire patient who has the disease.” As an osteopathic physician trained at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, I am committed to treating the whole person, not just symptoms. I don’t just treat a runny nose but ask why it’s happening and explore lifestyle or environmental factors. That’s the essence of osteopathic medicine. After medical school, I completed my internship at Doctor’s Hospital, which further shaped my clinical skills and patient-centered approach. I have always loved science and desired to advocate for others' health. Growing up, I admired our family physician’s ability to intervene during illness, improve lives, and provide comfort. I am an active participant in the Navy and Marine Corps community, a retired lieutenant commander in the Navy, and a general medical officer with the Marines. I lived in San Diego while stationed there for several years and was a member of the Fleet Marine Force, which travels the western Pacific and is involved in overseas activities in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Korea, and Australia. I continue to support the community and recreational service center in San Diego, a place for Navy and Marine Corps personnel to relax while on leave. I help with purchasing table tennis equipment and supporting extracurricular activities. I’m interested in artificial intelligence and healthcare, collaborating with others on neural networks and programming. We all have backgrounds in computer programming, studied through electives and on the side, creating algorithms used in AI. We’ll see if this hobby becomes an entrepreneurial business. I’m also interested in general health and fitness and have completed marathons.
