What should a new client know about working with you?

PLEASE NOTE: ALL ADHD PATIENTS MUST RESIDE WITHIN 50 MILES OF THE OFFICE ADDRESS AND REQUIRE STATE-MANDATED ANNUAL IN PERSON VISITS AND URINE DRUG SCREENS. Before joining Beacon Psychiatry, Alyssa supported patients who were at risk of self-harm or experiencing suicidal thoughts. Her experiences solidified her belief in the transformative power of genuine human connection and the importance of individualized care. She brings that approach to her work with all of her patients, especially those who feel like they have previously been overlooked and unheard. Her patients often express appreciation for her empathetic listening skills, unwavering attention, personalized guidance, and consistency of care. Alyssa enjoys treating individuals from all walks of life, with a particular focus on women’s health and the senior community. In her prior work at skilled nursing & assisted living facilities, she noticed that seniors’ mental health needs are often overlooked. She dedicates her time to listening to their experiences, understanding their symptoms, and empathizing with their challenges. Alyssa also frequently provides care for expectant mothers, new mothers, individuals planning to conceive, & women experiencing menopause or menopausal changes. She is committed to supporting both of these populations & has additional certifications in geriatric & perinatal psychiatry.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When meeting a new patient, Alyssa takes the time to listen and learn about them before developing a treatment plan. She asks questions about their family & medical history, stressors, support systems, goals, & lifestyle to gain a deeper understanding of each person’s unique situation. She believes it is essential to treat the whole person, rather than isolated symptoms. During treatment, she may prescribe medications, utilize various therapeutic techniques, order lab work to check for nutritional deficiencies, refer patients to additional providers to round out their care team, and make a variety of recommendations for lifestyle changes to support mental wellness. Above all, Alyssa wants her patients to always feel understood & supported.
