Getting to know Amanda Benvenuto

Amanda Benvenuto, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Koehler Mental Health and Wellness in Newport Beach, caring for adults in person and by telehealth throughout California. She provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive care for ADHD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, insomnia, OCD, PTSD, and related conditions, with an additional focus on women's mental health. Amanda came to psychiatry from years at the emergency room bedside, where she learned to stay calm in complex situations and to meet people with compassion on their hardest days. That experience shapes how she practices now: unhurried visits, careful listening, and a treatment plan built together rather than handed down. Her approach is holistic and grounded in evidence. An avid trail runner who loves the outdoors, Amanda believes emotional and physical health rise together, and she weaves sleep, movement, nutrition, and daily habits into treatment alongside thoughtful medication management. Her goal for every patient is a welcoming, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and genuinely supported, with real, lasting progress you can feel in daily life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Reaching out is often the hardest step, and I want the rest to feel easy. You'll find a warm, non-judgmental space where you can talk openly without being rushed or labeled. I listen first, to your story, your goals, and what you've already tried, and then we make decisions together. Whether we're addressing ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or trouble sleeping, I explain the reasoning behind every recommendation, and no question is off limits. I also care about the whole you: sleep, movement, nutrition, and daily routines are part of the conversation, not an afterthought.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start with a comprehensive initial evaluation, a full hour to understand your history, symptoms, strengths, and goals. From there we build a personalized plan together, which may include medication management, lifestyle strategies around sleep, exercise, and stress, and coordination with your therapist or primary care provider. Follow-up visits track what is actually working and adjust the plan as your needs evolve. Most patients are seen by secure video anywhere in California, with in-person visits available at our Newport Beach office.
