Getting to know Amanda Cherrington

My approach doesn't include hurried prescriptions or surface-level conversation. Instead, I focus on building a therapeutic space where you can feel totally comfortable opening up about your greatest struggles. I find joy in helping others realize their ultimate potential. I believe that your health preferences and past experiences are your greatest assets in helping us work together on a treatment plan that reflects your ultimate health goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is warm, approachable, and engaging. I prioritize building a strong connection with each client and believe in working together when making treatment decisions. Beginning treatment can feel overwhelming, and I understand how important it is to have a provider you can feel comfortable opening up to.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

For the initial evaluation we will spend 60 minutes together discussing your current mental health concerns, as well as exploring your past mental health and medical history. We will than discuss diagnosis and treatment plan, often including medication management and lifestyle modification. Follow up visits are generally shorter 30 minute visits where we will assess how the current treatment plan is progressing, and assess any needed modifications. Once medications are in a good place, and we don't feel the need for dosage changes, I typically meet with my patients once every 3 months.

I was able to schedule the appointment quickly. The provider was quick to respond after I booked the appointment so that I could fill out the appropriate paperwork. The appointment itself was good too. We were able to efficiently go through my symptoms and come up with a treatment plan. The provider was friendly and listened well. Overall it was a positive experience.

I initially sought help from Amanda during a difficult time, when my mental health was in crisis and I needed urgent care to stabilize for my safety. Having tried various psychiatrists and medications, I was looking for a provider who could help me achieve stability while considering my complete history and understanding of my own body. I was initially open to trialing new medications based on Amanda’s recommendations. However, when these worsened my mental health, Amanda refused to prescribe the medications I had used successfully in the past, which I knew would help stabilize me. Despite my attempts to advocate for myself, I felt my concerns were dismissed, and I did not feel heard or cared for. Above all, I did not feel that my safety or health were her top priorities. This experience left me feeling unsupported when I desperately needed compassionate care. I personally would not recommend Amanda as a provider.

She treats you like a person. She went through all of my past history, and actually listened to what worked and didn't work. She worked with me on a treatment plan that makes sense to both of us. It was refreshing to work with her.
Overall super happy with my care! She doesn't rush through things, takes the time to really listen. The medications also seem to be really helping, so that's a plus.
Super nice provider! I was having some technical difficulties, but she gave us extra time at the end to make sure we covered everything. Not many providers in my past would have done that.
