From a young age, I knew I wanted a career in medicine. My mother still tells the story of how I wanted to "fix" my uncle's arm after he lost it in a car accident. That desire to help people stayed with me and ultimately led me to pursue a career as a physician assistant. I chose primary care because I value the relationships and continuity it provides. Caring for patients through every stage of life and often having the privilege of treating multiple generations within the same family is meaningful for me. Building long-term relationships allows me to truly know my patients beyond their medical conditions, whether that means following up on a health concern or simply asking how a child's graduation went. My approach to healthcare is centered on collaboration, education and prevention. I believe patients should feel informed and involved in their healthcare decisions. My role is to provide guidance based on current research, clinical experience and each patient's individual needs, while openly discussing the benefits and potential drawbacks of different treatment options. Together, we can create a plan that is both medically sound and realistic for the patient's lifestyle and goals. It's also important to me to treat the whole person, not just a diagnosis. Physical health, mental well-being, sleep, stress, nutrition and lifestyle habits all play a role in overall health. Preventive care is a major focus of my practice whether that involves routine screenings, promoting healthy lifestyle choices or helping patients build sustainable habits that support long-term wellness. Most importantly, I want my patients to feel heard, respected and comfortable asking questions. Trust is built through communication, consistency and taking the time to truly listen. In 2024, I was honored to receive the Novant Health Distinguished Advanced Practice Provider Award for the Greater Charlotte Region. Representation in healthcare is something I'm especially passionate about.
