“Amanda is fabulous! She said all of the right things and validated me in all of the right ways. I could tell she really saw me as a person and wanted to help me in whatever ways she could for my unique situation. She didn't rush me and made sure to explain things clearly and simply. I would recommend her to everyone, especially those who may have had trouble with providers dismissing their problems in the past.”

Getting to know Amanda Dustin

I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults from all backgrounds who are struggling with their mental health. I am passionate about serving those from marginalized communities and those who feel misunderstood or overlooked in the mental health care system. I strongly believe individuals cannot be separated from their lived experience and the effect it has on their health. Quality care should be administered within the context of a person’s culture and environment. I know that working towards true healing involves meeting the individual where they are and being truly present to their needs. It also means maintaining the mindset that the healing journey is unique for each person and should be approached in an individualized way. As a mental health provider, my goal is to assist my patients in their healing journey by supporting and uplifting my patients to thrive and find meaning and fulfillment in their lives. I want all of my patients to feel seen and heard.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am passionate about providing care that treats more than symptoms or a diagnosis. I wholeheartedly believe that the approach to mental health treatment has to be in a holistic manner to truly meet the needs of the individual. I feel inspired every day to work towards understanding the lived experiences, desires, needs, wants, and struggles of the patients under my care. I feel honored every time I have the opportunity to be present and involved in supporting individuals in their healing journeys.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My first appointment with you will be a 90-minute comprehensive bio-psycho-social-spiritual evaluation so I can get to know you and understand the contributors to your mental health concerns. We will also discuss your symptoms and goals. With all the information we will develop a holistic, evidence-based, patient-centered treatment plan that will help you accomplish your goals and live a meaningful life. Your follow-up appointments will generally be 30 minutes. In these appointments we'll evaluate how the treatment plan is going, make adjustments when necessary, and use evidence-based treatments to help you accomplish your goals and live a meaningful life.
