Getting to know Amanda Lehman

Hello, my name is Amanda, and I’m a Board-Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner serving clients in Pennsylvania. I specialize in treating anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, OCD, PTSD, seasonal affective disorder (SAD), and stress management. I also support individuals navigating college and graduate student mental health, family and relationship challenges, maternal mental health (pre/postpartum), and women’s issues. With over 21 years of nursing experience and psychiatric training from Drexel University, I approach care with compassion and a commitment to holistic well-being. I’m passionate about destigmatizing mental healthcare, and together with my colleagues at Lavender Psychiatry, I’m on a mission to create a world where feelings are felt, respected, and cared for.

What should a new client know about working with you?

PLEASE NOTE, I’M IN-NETWORK WITH AETNA, CAPITAL BLUE CROSS, CIGNA, HIGHMARK PA, INDEPENDENCE BLUE CROSS, MEDICARE, OXFORD, QUEST BEHAVIORAL, UNITED HEALTHCARE. I DO NOT ACCEPT MEDICAID. My style is warm, engaging, and personable. I value forming a strong alliance with each client, and collaborating on all treatment decision-making. I work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and many different walks of life, including students, parents, professionals, trades, service industry, retail, entrepreneurs, creatives and tech experts. Starting treatment can be a scary and intimidating process, I’ve successfully treated many people who are new to psychiatric care. My style is warm, engaging, and personable. What is your typical process for working with clients?

Booking Process: My office will email you a self-assessment to ensure I’m able to help you. If we’re a fit, we’ll reach out to confirm a new appointment time.I always keep slots available each week for new clients. Your First Visit: The initial session is a comprehensive, one-hour evaluation which allows me to understand your current symptoms and difficulties, and learn about important aspects of your past psychiatric, medical, social, educational, and family histories. At the end of the session, we’ll determine the best treatment course. Session frequency ranges from weekly to monthly depending on the type of treatment you’re looking for. If you’re already seeing a therapist, I’m happy to collaborate with them while guiding the medication aspect of your treatment. However, many of my clients see me for both therapy and medication management. My practice, Lavender Psychiatry, is founded and fueled by board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners who create therapeutic journeys that are kind, convenient and transparent so that people can flourish. We have a fantastic team that works together to ensure our clients are well taken care of. This includes our care concierge team who is available 7 days a week between your appointments, to help answer questions and assist with any issues regarding coverage and prescriptions etc. We also have covering providers in case I’m away and an urgent matter arises. I look forward to meeting you and helping you in your journey to a brighter future!

Amanda felt that in person care would be best for me but told me if I could not get in to an in person that she would gladly see me back and I called to get in person. There was a two month wait so I left amanda a message as instructed by her to let her know that I couldn’t get in for another two months and I would like to schedule a follow up with her in the meantime until I could get in with the in person, please, and she declined my follow up visit and said that in person would be more suitable for me which again we had agreed-upon, but she had told me if there was too long of a weight that she would see me in the meantime ! the follow-through with her was very poor?
