Getting to know Amanda Sheehan

I am a board certified psychiatric mental health NP trained at Johns Hopkins University, providing medication management & integrated with psychotherapeutic care. I am accepting new patients at this time with mental health concerns including anxiety, OCD spectrum, ADHD, as well as the mental health effects of learning differences, endocrine conditions (like diabetes, PCOS, thyroid, hypoglycemia), & connective tissue disorders. Establishing meaningful connections with individuals is the foundation of the holistic care I provide, and I am keenly sensitive to the stress additional health conditions confer upon wellbeing. I am in network with commercial insurance - BCBS, Aetna, United, Tufts, and Harvard Pilgrim (I am not in network with medicaid / medicare at this time). I have experience in both clinical and research areas of practice and am dual certified as a psychiatric NP as well as a family NP with an additional specialty in endocrinology and diabetes.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Pharmacologic (medications) and non-pharmacologic treatments, including lifestyle and nutritional, or evidence based supplementary therapies may be used as per an individuals needs, values and goals. My foundational approach to assessment is rooted in present moment awareness, acceptance & mindfulness. I am passionate about truly listening, holding space, and bringing an intentionality in supporting each individual's unique path to wellness. Solution focused techniques and exposure response prevention (for OCD) may also be part of our time to foster tapping into inner insight and wisdom to guide our collaborative plan of care.
