About Dr. Amar Patel
Dr. Patel was born and raised in Chicago, IL and moved to Arizona in 2000. He completed his General Surgery Internship and Urologic Surgery training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, obtaining recognition from the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons as the 2019 Outstanding Minimally Invasive Surgeon.
Dr. Patel graduated magna cum laude with Honors from the University of Arizona and obtained his Medical Degree from The University of Arizona College of Medicine—Phoenix.
During his time at Emory, Dr. Patel received advanced surgical training in all aspects of Urology, including open and minimally invasive surgery, all urologic cancers, advanced robotic surgery (prostate, kidney, ureter, and bladder), cryoablation, brachytherapy, stone disease, vasectomy, male and female urinary issues, urological trauma, erectile dysfunction, prosthetic surgery, and infertility. Dr. Patel has also published book chapters, papers in peer-reviewed medical journals, and presented at several national Urology conferences.
Dr. Patel strives to provide the highest quality care for his patients, focusing on the importance of an open line of communication, and treating each patient as he would his own family.

It was a waste of my time filling out paperwork on Zocdoc because they said they didn't have it so I had to do it all over again there.

Upon arrival, we discussed my procedure, waited over an hour, just for them to tell me they could do the procedure today, but it would cost me all out of pocket, when they had all my preform information to check my insurance before hand, or even while I was waiting.
Then they proceeded to tell me that not all parts of the operation were covered by insurance. So which was it? They knew and checked, or just assumed and didn't?
Either way, it felt very unhelpful and strange when I know that my insurance covers 100% of everything.
Also if they could have done the operation the same day, but for money right then and there, that just means they didnt want to take the time to try and solve this "issue".
Unclear. Friendly. But also it seemed unusual and sad it felt like there was something they could have done, but chose not to.

The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable about the polices and procedures of the office. The front ladies are so nice & welcoming which is great for those with anxiety, you make people feel at ease. The MA was great. Walked me through everything & was with me the entire time. The Dr is fantastic! He genuinely cares about your health and how to improve it. I can’t say one bad thing about this office team. Also, cleanliness was TOP NOTCH! Just great all around!

This was my first time using Zocdoc and found the process seamless, though I only met with one of the NPs rather than Amar Patel, as listed (which worked out because April was WONDERFUL). I’ve been battling a recurrent UTI for 7 months and found the staff knowledgeable and helpful, and the clinic clean. They did a thorough examination, and didn’t have to wait long to be seen. Overall, I highly recommend :)

Doctor seems rushed didn't mommet to look at previous biopsies and results. But recommended that I needed to do another prostate biopsy before looking .Then he uses scare tactics like do you want to die of prostate cancer. Feel like he's only trying to fill his own pocket and not give good advice.

We were there very early, they did not make us wait around for our scheduled time, took us right away. Dr Patel was thorough, explained everything clearly to my 89 year old father. My father felt very comfortable with less stress after seeing Dr Patel.

Dr. Patel exudes competence and is very direct about what the diagnostics say. The staff are friendly. The Zocdoc online process was a pain and didn't work well at all. I had to have a catheter inserted for the first time and that seemed a little roughly administered by the nurse but maybe everyone thinks that.

Dr. Patel takes an intuitive approach to diagnosis and does not over-medicate as a means to solve a problem, which my original provider did to no positive outcome. I was impressed with his professionalism and he has a great personality. He even gave me his cell in case of emergencies!!

The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. They volunteered to shred some sensitive documents and verified that the reports I had sent via email had been received.
I was first met by the nurse who checked my bladder using a small ultrasound. She confirmed that all was well. Next, the medical student came into the exam room and asked form questions. We chatted about what was happening and how my previous treatment was going. The medical student was friendly and put me at ease. Later, the med student returned with Dr. Patel. He was very kind and easy to talk to. I felt Dr. Patel respected my opinion and concerns. He asked questions to pinpoint the problem and provided multiple solutions.
