About Dr. Amishi Murthy

We are dedicated to using our expertise in allergy, asthma, and immunology to provide compassionate, comprehensive care for children and adults. Dr. Amishi Murthy grew up in the Midwest and has loved living in Chicago since 2002. After graduating from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, with a double major in Biochemistry and French, she earned her Doctor of Medicine from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Dr. Murthy completed her Pediatric residency at Children's Memorial Hospital and her Fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Allergy and Clinical Immunology at Children's Memorial Hospital and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She has been in private practice since 2007 and currently lives in Chicago with her husband and two children. She is board certified in Pediatrics and Allergy and Immunology.

I like the doctor but they never reviewed my results I went to take the tests for nothing because they never followed up about it! I wrote to the office about it to show my report to the doctor but no answer!
I booked another appointment and asked to review my report to the doctor, she told me to send it in and I did it again 5 days later no answer. I reminded them but here i am looking for another provider. If you want to have a follow up will not recommend otherwise doctor was nice.

Provider seemed rushed. Staff was unpleasant. I did an allergy test and was told once the allergens were placed she’d be in after 15 mins. After 20+ mins I asked for the doctor (mind you, it’s uncomfortable and itchy) and the staff member told me the doctor would be in after 20 mins (different than what the Dr told me) and was rude.

The doctor was nice, but the staff was awkward and sort of unfriendly. I felt weird interacting with them, it was an overwhelming day and they all seemed like they had better things to do. I was asked to come in for bloodwork and they were not helpful in giving me any idea of potential cost. I got hit with a huge bill for bloodwork and was told nothing is wrong with me- but I still have intense allergies? It would have been nice to be warned to call my insurance before they had me do immediate tests. I’m pretty disappointed and I’m not sure how I’m going to cover this bill. I don’t feel confident in going to see a specialist again.

I really appreciated how Dr. Murthy listened to my concerns and addressed them thoughtfully. She was very thorough in her approach and was able to get some testing done for me right away. Overall a great experience!

The doctor was clearly experienced and knowledgable, but talked incredibly quickly and seemed to be rushing throughout. It wasn't a long appointment (i.e. I didn't take up a lot of her time), yet I was left trying to ask questions as the doctor was literally backing away from me and halfway out the door. I sort of just gave up. I'm sure (or I think?) that I received good care, but I left the office without a clear understanding of what had just happened -- which doesn't feel great for a smart adult. Front-desk staff and the phlebotomist were all super nice, though; location and parking also great.

I had an incredible experience with Dr. Murthy!! Cannot possibly say enough good things about her. I will be referring all my friends and family there. She was an excellent listener, was thorough in her explanations, and gave me a solid treatment plan to follow. So happy I found them (just via word of mouth!). Don't worry about looking elsewhere for an allergist, this is the place you should go :)
