Amy is always user helpful, she listens and she’s always got ideas for solving my issues. Very personable and one of the best!
It was very convenient. I booked the appointment just a few hours ahead of time. Seeing her so early made a difference in treating my shingles diagnosis as soon as possible. Dr. Perlmutter also remembered to give me a coupon for the perscription, which I appreciated.
Amy is very professional. I've been going to her for a few years and have no reason to change.
Dr. Perlmutter seemed to have little interest in my appointment. I had a specific area I wanted her to look at, which she did/discussed it with me for about 3 minutes. Since I was a new patient, I expected her to ask me questions and offer a "check-up" of sorts. However, she seemed to just want to get me out as quickly as possible.
Really quick visit. She knew exactly the issue, prescribed medication, and sent me on my way. Fast and efficient!
Dr Perlmutter was so nice and I really enjoyed meeting her - she made me feel so comfortable and confident with her diagnoses. I would highly recommend her!
I feel very lucky to be Dr. Perlmutter's patient. I always listen to her and am so pleased with the results.
I had an excellent visit with Dr. Perlmutter. She made me feel very comfortable. The nurse who assisted was also wonderful. Will definitely recommend her to friends.
Great visit - knowledgeable & direct
Office is very nice, staff and doctor also very nice. I did feel a little uncomfortable that the assistant comes into the room with the doctor during the exam. I typically select female doctors because I feel more comfortable with a female presence for some of the more intimate medical issues!
Wasn't too enthused. Overall the office has an upscale, boutique feel -- which some might like, but I tend to dislike at a dermatologist as it conveys more interest in cosmetic procedures. Dr. Perlmutter was perfectly nice and it was a very short visit, but not in-depth at all. She didn't ask about my history or explore any underlying causes with my eczema. It was a fine enough visit to get a prescription refilled, as I wanted, but I wouldn't go back for long-term care.
Dr. Perlmuter was very professional and good giving explanations and responding my questions
She was wonderful and took her time with me. Very friendly.
Really excellent, she was great, gave me a couple of options, and advised me on both. Lovely office, with very helpful staff too.
She is very professional, very patient and very willing to answer all my questions.
Excellent visit. She was friendly and accessible, immediately putting me at ease. Clear and direct in her answers. And certainly seemed to be thoroughly knowledgeable.
: ] professional, patient and sociable
Dr. Perlmutter is fantastic. Thanks!
Excellent & caring!
I didn't have to wait long to see the doctor for my skin check. She was thorough with my skin check and removed a mole for biopsy. I also had a question about some mysterious spots that appeared on my hand and thighs but she didn't know what may have caused them or provide any possible causes. I'm not sure if her conclusions were typical or if she just hadn't seen many cases like mine. When describing certain skin conditions, she used the wordy medical terms, which was like a foreign language to me, so that was a bit odd. Would have been better if she spoke in layman terms.
Excellent. Took time with me. Very responsive and professional. I really liked her.
Professional and detailed. Good bedside manner. The wait was around 20 minutes but that was ok as I needed to complete paperwork. Will be going back
She was great and straight to the point. Thank you
I had a skin screening which was quick but thorough and a mole removed to be tested that same day. Dr. Perlmutter is informative and friendly. The office is very pretty and it was an easy and worthwhile appointment.
Front desk staff was very pleasant and efficient. Waiting and exam room were run down, didn't seem sanitary. Assistant to doctor was not friendly or warm at all. Doctor was fine, but very brief (annual skin checkup). This seems like yet another dermatology practice that courts patients who want cosmetic procedures, not medical care. I thought as a new patient, there'd be more effort from the practice to be welcoming. This was true only at the front desk. I'll keep looking for a dermatology office.
I went to a dermatologist because I wanted to have a general discussion about taking better care of my skin, and she was not receptive to that. I felt like that appointment was a complete waste of my time.
Cheery doctor, accommodating and answered all my random-ass questions ("What is the temp of the frozen nitrogen you're spraying me with?"). Felt like I was in good hands the whole time.
Honestly not that helpful. Also, the total office experience was also not that great. No one (from front desk to doctor's assistant) cared to make eye contact or even say hello. No instructions or explanation either of what will be happening during your visit or even to say "take a seat while you wait for the doctor"—they just take your forms and ignore you. Probably won't come back unless I have no other options.
I am new to the country and this was the first time seeing a physician. I explicitly asked reception whether this was covered by my insurance. She called my provider and ensured me it was. I asked repeatedly if I would be charged anything and she said no. Now, close to 6 months later, I have received two bills, both for significant amounts! Its literally stealing! I am Appalled!
So when telling the assistant that I'm here to discuss my acne, a rash and have a regular skin checkup, she stated that for the skin checkup I had to book a separate appointment. I decided to just do that since that was the main reason I came, however I find it extremely unprofessional to not allow a patient who has come to see a skin doctor to discuss various skin issues. In comparison, my husband went to a dermatologist for a regular skin check up, and she herself noticed a few issues and recommended what to do. In addition, they have a really cumbersome method of filling out the paperwork. You have to do it both on a computer and on paper, with the computer being extremely old fashioned and very buggy. The office is pretty, though.
Do not make an appointment with Dr. Perlmutter if you are looking for someone concerned with answering your questions. I booked an appointment for a "dermatology consultation" because I have a slew of questions about my skin. When I sat down the assistant asked me if I would like a full body check, I said "sure, that is a good idea." After a 5-6 minute skin cancer check Dr. Perlmutter said nothing looks dangerous. I said great - I have a few questions, to which the doctor replied.... "Oh if you have any questions you have to book a separate appointment, this is just a skin cancer scan." I told her that I didn't come here for a skin cancer scan and that I had other questions. She laughed and said "that's not how dermatology works." If I could give this Doctor less then one star I would, this was a completely unacceptable experience. If the Doctor and/or office would like to reach out to me for further clarification, please do.
Very professional. Helped me with some minor but embarrassing skin conditions. Wish I'd been less reluctant to get looked at and gone sooner!
I arrived a little early to make sure I have time to fill out the paperwork. I still had to wait half an hour until I was seen. Other than that, everything was fine.
Dr. Perlmutter is wonderful! Aside from being a delightful human, she was very helpful and informative with advising options and weighing various courses of action to achieve my goals. Having moved forward and receiving treatment, I am super happy with the results!
She listen to me and was very knowledgeable
Professional, warm, courteous and efficient. I had a very good experience and will be recommending to others.
Dr. Perlmutter is wonderful. I actually cannot say enough about how wonderful she is; kind, patient, thorough, and warm. Her staff seemed off today - disconnected and disinterested in my business, so that was a bit of a turn off.
Very nice and personable, listened and was easy to talk to. Great with needles.
I went in for a mole/screening check and Dr. Perlmutter was wonderful to deal with. She made me feel comfortable and at ease. It turns out I had to have two moles removed, include one on my face :( Dr. Perlmutter performed the removal procedure painlessly and flawlessly. I would highly recommend her!
She was great, very nice and professional
Very warm and helpful!
I'm glad I saw Dr. Perlmutter today. She is very knowledgeable and it was great to talk with her about my skin condition.
I got what i needed
Very nice doctor, helped to answer all my questions.
First thing I noticed was the office, it's very beautiful with an AMAZING view. I was very surprised. My appointment with Dr Perlmutter was quick and easy. I was happy with the appointment.
No complaints. Staff wasn't overly friendly but experience was fine.
Doctor diagnosed me quickly, was very nice, and answered all of my questions. Seemed to be fairly busy, but did not rush me. Wait time was reasonable and office staff was pleasant.
She is very friendly and professional and takes the time to explain her diagnosis and the medicines she is prescribing. I would return to their office and recommend her to others!
Beautiful office. Clean, chic, doesn't feel like a doctor's office (which is a nice feeling). Everything is technologically up to date. Was able to fill out my forms on their laptops. Everything just ran smoothly. It was refreshing
Dr Perlmutter was super sweet and quickly created a treatment with a sound and simple manner of communication. The office itself is gorgeous (seriously, so chic), and I didn't have a copayment! Looking forward to seeing her again!
It was my first time to the office and my first time to a dermatologist. Dr. Amy addressed all of my concerns and put me at ease. She have me a through skin examination and provided treatment opportunities for other skin issues I had. Highly recommend her!
Check in was easy - I filled out the new patient forms online, and was only sitting in the wait room for 3 or 4 minutes before I was called in. Dr Perlmutter was friendly, talked me through things as she did my skin check, answered my questions, and was even able to accommodate a quick procedure I requested on the spot. I would definitely return to her for future check ups.
The visit was efficient once I finally got in, but the wait left something to be desired.
I waited over an hour to be seen by the doctor. 10 minutes of this was in the waiting area; the remainder in an empty room. For professionals seeking a quick lunch time appointment, they took entirely too long.
Efficient, thorough, pleasant and accurate. She is a true professional. I love Dr. Perlmutter.
She is very warm and thorough. I found her answers to my questions to be very direct and will def be back when I need another checkup.
I tried to save time by filling out all of their paperwork online but apparently nothing was saved in their system. I arrived at the time of my appointment and they checked me in. I waited 30 minutes before they told me that they couldn't find my paperwork and that I would have to fill it all in again. They could have told me that my paperwork was missing in the first 5 minutes of checking in instead of having me wait 30 minutes. Of course they told me the delay was because they didn't have my paperwork. What a terrible system. Then the women at the front desk proceeded to talk about me even though I had a perfectly good view of them. They were complaining that people shouldn't go to the doctor if they have to go back to work. If they truly want that, they should offer more hours after work. Doctor was good. Shame that my experience was tainted by the women managing the front desk.
Super helpful, efficient, and thorough.
She was very efficient and direct, but kind.
Great doctor! So thorough and caring!
Dr. Perlmutter was very personable and professional. I will return for future visits and recommend her highly.
Though she was very professional, Dr. Perlmutter was a bit too brisk about my appointment -- I had a few things I wanted to cover with her, and she was more interested in quickly writing up refills for my existing prescriptions and scanning my moles, without taking the time to hear about some of the (less important, granted) more vain things I wanted to discuss, like wrinkle prevention and skin clarity.
Answered all questions and did not make me feel rushed or silly for asking. Her assistant is a bit abrupt and not as approachable however.
They aren't the chattiest or friendliest office, but they're competent, efficient and timely. They always see me right away and my wait time within the exam room is always very short. Highly recommended.
Good destination if you're looking for botox but not sure the doctors really care about anything beyond pricy, cosmetic treatment
Was told my insurance coverage was limited to the state of VA despite my insurance card saying "National Aetna Open Access Insurance". Was denied my appointment and had to call my insurance representative and have them talk to the front desk in order for my appointment to be accepted. Then I waited about an hour before I was able to see Dr.Perlmutter.
Rude. Terrible. Unprofessional. Not worth time to further leave more.
Dr. Perlmutter was extremely friendly. Her assistant however, was quite surly.
I found Dr. Perlmutter and her team to be very rude and unprofessional. I have visited her twice, the first time I had to wait 45 mins, but the actually appointment was fine. The last time i waited 1.5 hours. After an hour I asked if I should reschedule as I needed to get back to work and was told it would only be a few more mins. Thirty mins later when I walked into the hall and saw Dr. Perlmutter I mentioned in what I thought was a polite voice that I had been waiting for an hour and half and I needed to get back to work. She told me that things happen and it would be have to wait. I mentioned to her assistant that as a result of the severe eczema on my hands I was unable to use my gym without experiencing a lot of pain. She suggested that I could get a note from the front desk when I checked out. The front desk told me that she would have to write the note herself and asked if it would be okay for her to e-mail it to me. I had to follow up for three days before receiving a note asking to be excused for one week from my membership. I explained that this was not what I needed and that because of the tearing in my hands I wasn't able to use the gym at all. Her assistant e-mailed me stating that Dr. Perlmutter refused to write me a note so that I could cancel my membership and that I could continue to go to the gym after a week. Here I am a week later and my hands still experience extreme pain and discomfort from even touching any of the equipment for too long. Thanks for nothing. I will never go back to that office. And in addition to all of this, they charged me for a biopsy that she had assured me would be covered by my insurance.
the doctor was very nice but the wait was way too long - more than 45 minutes and the assistant wasnt very helpful or polite. (i was still getting dressed and she left leaving the door open, and didnt offer me any bandages to re-cover my injury)
Waited longer than I was actually examined. She was nice but I don't know how well she checked all my moles.
office was fancy and she was very nice
The office was beautiful. I had read reviews about the front desk staff and was prepared for the worst but found them to be efficient and pleasant. The Dr was quick but said everything that needed to be said and was nice and I felt very comfortable with her. Her assistant wasn't as warm but it didn't bother me. I would say in all I was there for 15 minutes but it felt like my questions were answered and I would go back again.
I thought Dr Perlmutter was very personable with great bedside manner and lots of eye contact. Not a huge fan of how I was treated at the front desk and did not feel welcomed by them as a new patient. A personal cellphone call was answered when I was checking out and had to stand there and wait for her to finish her call before I finish my copay process of swiping my credit card. Was ignored for a full minute when I walked in, even though there were 4 associates at the front counter again having personal conversations. I just stood there in front of them, they glanced at me and then finished their conversations before addressing their new patient. For the number of Dermatologists in NYC not sure I would go back or recommend due to lack of personal demeanor of staff at the front desk. A shame because Dr. Amy Pelmutter was great!
Dr. Perlmutter was warm and spent time answering all of my questions. Would definitely recommend to other patients!
Most of my wait time was in the room, but it was still over a half hour before I saw the doctor.
Was very helpful and answered all my questions
Fantastic. Gorgeous location. Front desk girl was rather dry sondidnt care for her but at least she wasnt rude which is the standard at a lot of Dr offices. The rest of the staff was rather pleasant. Huge location and it deff has a spa-esque feeling to it. Told the nurse I was in a rush and she was very receptive and pleasant about it. Dr Perlmutter came in swiftly and I was done in less than 15min with all the info I needed, all my questions answered and she walked me down the hallway with a big smile. Deff will return if I ever require her services again (this was not cosmetic it was a skin rash visit so even BETTER service wise) she immediately knew what it was and how to treat
I think there's often a fine line between professionalism and acting like the family doctor. Amy had answers but often seemed uncertain as to what caused my specific condition or lacked confidence in my prognosis. More assertion would serve her well.
She's very nice and nice staff. Quick and nice office.
Chose this place because I work in the same building; and that was about the only positive thing. I think the receptionist hated her job; she didn't try to hide it either. I waited at least 30 minutes in the waiting area. The exam rooms do not feel private at all.....the wall is frosted glass from the floor to about 7 feet high. From that point up to the ceiling it is clear glass which faces directly into corridor and the building's windows across the street. I tried to pull the shades down but they wouldn't budge, pretty sure I gave the neighboring office a peep show. When I met with Dr. Perlmutter she seemed rushed and not genuinely interested in helping me. I felt like my skin exam was not thorough or informative. She met with me for maybe ten minutes and high-tailed it out of there. Most impersonal experience I've had with a doctor. To anyone who cares, I recommend ONE Medical, their doctors never leave you hanging.
I've been looking for a dermatologist close to my work office in NYC. Amy was friendly, informative and attentive. She answered any questions that I had. Thought she was great! I would happily recommend to a friend.
I felt as if Dr. Perlmutter was simply "processing" me as another appointment, instead of treating me like a patient. I felt rushed, that she didn't take the time to fully understand my questions or give thorough answers. She even stood up to indicate that my appointment had concluded.
The appointment was very short (less than 10 minutes) and she seemed to be in a hurry to move on. She gave very general answers to my questions and redirected me to other people often saying she didn't know. She was friendly and professional, but didn't take much time to talk to me or answer my questions.
Very interesting to read some of the lukewarm reviews here. Dr. Perlmutter has always seen me right away (unless I was late) and I often ask multiple questions during my appointments, which she never has any trouble answering.
Dr. Perlmutter was actually quite good, but I went to this office many years ago and I now remember why I stopped going there. I always have to wait close to half an hour to be seen even when the office seems empty. The doctors also rush through the appointments and seem put off if you want to have an actual conversation wit them. I came in today for a skin screening, but when I mentioned I might have a couple other questions, Dr. Perlmutter said she wasn't sure she would be able to answer anything without my coming back for another appointment. There is no way I'm taking another two hours out of my work day (plus another co-pay) to come back to their office so I can ask a 2 minute question. It was definitely irritating and one of the reasons I was turned off by this practice the first time around.
I came in for a body scan and to have her look at skin rash and she refused to do both on the same visit.
