Getting to know Dr. Ana Adelstein

I help people realize their hopes and dreams. I support them in getting unstuck and feeling more in control (or sometimes less!) to build more satisfying lives and deepen their relationships. I'm known as experienced and caring. I work with individuals 18+ who come to me for various reasons-some seeking to better understand themselves and develop new skills, others grappling with different challenges in their lives. I frequently work with individuals in high-stress professions-physicians and other health professionals, lawyers, executives-and those in professional programs and graduate school. I hold a PhD in Psychology from the University of Waterloo. I'm available for telehealth sessions for individuals in Georgia. (Please note: I'm not able to meet in person, so I cannot accept anyone experiencing suicidal thoughts or who has attempted suicide. If this applies to you, I want you to get the best care possible, which means working with someone who can see you in person.) My Specialties • Stress, Anxiety, Panic, Worry • Perfectionism, Obsessions, and Compulsions (OCD) • Relationship Difficulties, Intimacy • Life Changes, Trauma • Gender Identity, Sexual Orientation I'd welcome meeting with you and helping you rewrite The Story of You.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I'm known for being easy to connect with and insightful. Likewise, I'm known for working flexibly and even playfully, incorporating techniques and approaches that have proven effective. I work transparently so you'll find that you won't have to guess what I'm thinking as I'll tell you! I also tend to be interactive in sessions so I'll jump in with questions and thoughts. Finally, I tend to be action-oriented so I'll suggest things you might try.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Once you've scheduled an appointment I'll send you a secure message with instructions for our meeting. Before being able to meet, II'll need you to (1) register as a new patient in our record system, (2) reserve and pay for your appointment online (debit/credit/HSA cards are OK), and (3) complete my paperwork (not the same as ZocDoc's). Ideally, this is done at least 48 hours before our meeting. I'll send you instructions for joining me for the video visit. I use Doxy.me. You are not able to access the video visit through ZocDoc. During our first meeting I'll try to learn as much about you as I can. I'll ask you questions about what's going on in your life and what's prompting you to get a bit of help. By the end of our first meeting I'll share my initial thoughts and suggestions for moving forward - toward helping you get to where you'd like to be.
