Getting to know Dr. Andrea Swails
Greetings, my name is Dr. Andrea L. Swails. I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with 13 years of experience in medical-surgical nursing on the floor, lecturing in the classroom at various colleges, working in clinicals with students in hospital settings, and living a life full of joy in helping patients with mental illness. I earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice from Walden University, my Master’s in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from Kent State University, and my Bachelor’s degree from Ursuline College.
My focus of treatment includes mood disorders, substance abuse, and chronic illness through psychiatric assessment, medication management, and brief psychotherapy interventions. Patients can expect their first visit to include a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and a collaborative determination of treatment goals, led by both the patient and me.
I enjoy serving patients of all ages with any mental health concerns. My clients will take away a deeper understanding of their emotions, improved coping mechanisms to manage difficult situations, enhanced self-awareness, and better communication skills.

She is very knowledgeable. She actually listen and not over talk to you but actually listen to the issue, try to figure out the problem so she can address/execute the issue. Professional, kind, compassionate about her work you can tell she love what she does. I would recommend her services to anyone.

Andrea made me feel like everything was going to be okay right from the start. I threw a complicated matter at her and she spent 40 min of her own personal time helping me sort things out before I even had my first appointment with her! Things are still up in the air but she continues to reassure me she’s not going anywhere and she’s going to do all she can on her end to help me out! My very shy 10 year old doesn’t do well with change. He saw Andrea and opened up to her and felt comfortable enough at the end of his session that he wanted to see her again in 1 week! Andrea is 110%!
