Getting to know Dr. Andrew Lelin

Dr. Andrew Lelin is a board-certified Psychiatrist in Adult Psychiatry. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University, as well as his Master’s in Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care, and Bioethics from Stony Brook University. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from Hofstra University’s School of Medicine before completing his residency at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine. There, he completed his training in advanced psychopharmacology with diverse patient populations. Dr. Lelin also has in-depth education in various psychotherapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, habit-reversal, and cognitive-processing therapies, which he continues to incorporate into his daily practice. After completing training, he provided inpatient consultation and crisis intervention services in New York City. From these experiences, Dr. Lelin has developed a unique approach to treating anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, trauma-based, and other psychiatric conditions. He employs a compassionate and humanistic approach, creating a space that aligns with each patient’s own goals and values to guide treatment. He begins with a detailed initial evaluation and thorough follow-ups to carefully navigate the dual challenges of over- and underdiagnosing. He has a particular passion for treating young adults, LGBTQ+ mental health, patients with complex medical issues, and those undergoing life transitions.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.
