Dr. McLaren is a dedicated and diligent family physician serving the community of Westfield and Carmel, IN. Dr. McLaren attended Indiana University, where he received his medical degree, and completed his internship at Underwood-Memorial Hospital. He went on to complete a residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital and a fellowship at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. Dr. McLaren is a part of IU Health Physicians. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr McLaren and his office staff is very friendly and amazing. Being a new patient they guided me through my appointment with an utmost ease. The paperwork took me sometime which is understandable but apart from that everything was a breeze. Dr McLaren listened to my concerns and interacted very openly on how he will approach my treatment which I had rarely experienced with other providers. This was my first appointment and I am glad that I transferred myself under his care. I am definitely going back to such a welcoming experience.

The only problem I had was with the Zocdoc website. I scheduled my appt for 1:45 but the website put me down for 1:30. So when I showed up at 1;45 I was technically late. But when I showed my text confirming my appt for 1:45 the dr saw me. Other then that very pleasant staff.

Many people are reluctant to visit a physician but I actually look forward to my visits to Dr. McLaren. He takes the time to explain the health matter related to my visit in detail and makes certain that I am satisfied with his explanation. He has a great personality and I always leave his office smiling. His nurses Starr and Ashley are also wonderful. The office makes me feel that I am a part of the family.

I felt that this provider could have spent more time with me problem solving my issues. Part of the issue was medication/insurance coverage and I felt that the provider could have spent more time helping me navigate the situation. My family and I had to go up to the office two times. First, to pick up a script that the provider said would be at the pharmacy and a second time to try and speak with the provider or provider's nurse to get another script to see the cost. I wasn't able to speak with either and left a message. It's been 4 days (three business days) and no return call from the provider. This isn't the first time my call hasn't been returned.

Dr. McLaren's entire staff is professional and kind. Starr, his medical assistant, even reminded me to get my flu shot when I was in.

I used to hate thinking about making an appointment to see a doctor for whatever reason, but since I have a physician at IU Health North, it doesn't brother me anymore. The nursing staff is always polite and pleasant, always willing to listen and answer any questions I might have. My physician is the same way, he does not rush in and rush you out of the office. He always asks if I have any concerns that he can help with. I have never had to wait long to get an appointment, if not the same day, usually the next day. My family physician was at another practice and I hated the though of finding a new doctor when he left that practice, but I was relieved that I was able to continue with him just at a new facility.
