My early childhood was marked by the discovery of a heart defect, which led to care from a group of doctors and other healthcare workers who inspired me to follow them into the field. My grandfather was also a doctor in a rural area, which showed me the importance of caring for all populations, especially the underserved. A team approach is key to quality medical care. A patient and their provider need to have good communication above all else. I foster that by taking the time to listen to my patients' concerns and providing empathy so they will be comfortable during each visit. I respond to their needs promptly, and provide the information they need to understand any illnesses or treatment plans. I treat my patients as I would my own family, and I hope that builds a trust between us that will benefit their care. Medicine brought me and my husband together. We met while I was working as a scientist at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas. We stayed in Texas while I completed a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. My husband accepted a position as a neuroscientist at High Point University in 2016, which prompted our move to North Carolina. We love raising our two children here. When we are not working, we love camping and traveling as a family, and spending time with extended family and friends.
