Dr. Angelica Larios, MD

Psychiatrist
FL
I am Angelica Larios, MD, MPH, a bilingual board-certified psychiatrist and Co-Founder and Medical Director of MindSolutions Psychiatry, a telehealth practice serving patients across Florida and New York. My path to psychiatry spans over a decade of clinical experience across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, consult-liaison, and telepsychiatric settings. I completed my psychiatry residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where I received the Award for Excellence in Psychotherapy, and I hold a Master of Public Health from the University of Puerto Rico, which shapes how I think about mental health not just at the individual level but at the community and systems level. I specialize in psychiatric evaluation, advanced psychopharmacology, perinatal and women's mental health, child and adolescent psychiatry, substance use disorders, geriatric psychiatry, and veterans mental health. My consultation-liaison background means I am comfortable managing complex psychiatric presentations alongside significant medical illness, something many outpatient psychiatrists are not trained to do. I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish and deeply committed to providing culturally responsive care to Latino and Hispanic communities. I understand that language and cultural context are not secondary considerations in psychiatric care. They are central to it. My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and genuinely patient-centered. I take time to understand your full history, your life context, and what has and has not worked before. Medications are one tool within a broader, personalized treatment plan. Every patient deserves a provider who listens carefully, explains clearly, and remains invested in their progress over time. New patients are typically seen within 48 to 72 hours. At MindSolutions Psychiatry, we don't just manage symptoms. We find answers. Healing Through Connection.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me begins with being truly heard. Many of my patients come having seen multiple providers, received conflicting diagnoses, or felt rushed through appointments that never quite addressed the full picture. That changes here. Our first appointment is comprehensive and unhurried. I take a full psychiatric, medical, and social history and spend time understanding not just your symptoms but your life, your context, and your goals. By the end of our first session you will have a clear working diagnosis, a transparent treatment plan, and a complete explanation of my clinical reasoning. My style is warm, direct, and collaborative. I will share my clinical thinking openly and always invite your perspective. You are not a passive recipient of care here. We build your treatment plan together. I incorporate evidence-based therapeutic approaches including supportive therapy, psychoeducation, and motivational interviewing alongside medication management when appropriate. I do not simply prescribe and move on. I follow up, I adjust, and I stay engaged in your care. For perinatal and women's mental health patients I follow evidence-based protocols specific to pregnancy, postpartum, and reproductive transitions. For veterans and older adults I bring specialized training that accounts for the unique factors affecting those populations. For Spanish speaking patients all care is available entirely in Spanish from the very first appointment. What I ask of you is honesty and a willingness to engage. Psychiatric care works best as a partnership and I am fully committed to mine.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process begins with a thorough initial psychiatric evaluation that goes well beyond a standard intake. I review your complete psychiatric and medical history, prior diagnoses, medications that have been tried, and any relevant family history. I ask questions other providers may not have asked because I believe the details that seem small are often the ones that matter most. I approach every evaluation with a differential diagnosis mindset, meaning I do not anchor to the first obvious explanation. I consider the full clinical picture including medical factors, substance use, trauma history, developmental background, and social context before arriving at a diagnosis. For patients who have been misdiagnosed or have not responded to prior treatment this approach often provides the clarity they have been searching for. Follow up appointments focus on monitoring your response to treatment, making medication adjustments as needed, and addressing any new or evolving concerns. I incorporate supportive therapy and psychoeducation into every session. I do not separate the prescription from the conversation. For perinatal patients I follow evidence-based protocols specific to each stage of the reproductive cycle including preconception planning, pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. For child and adolescent patients I involve families in the treatment process and take a developmentally informed approach. For patients managing co-occurring substance use disorders I integrate motivational interviewing and harm reduction principles alongside psychiatric treatment. Every session ends with a clear plan, next steps, and an open door for follow up. You will never leave an appointment wondering what happens next.

More information on payments and coverage

Here it is for Dr. Larios: MindSolutions Psychiatry is currently a self-pay practice. Payment is processed by credit or debit card at the time of service. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. We are not currently paneled with insurance providers, however we are happy to provide a detailed superbill upon request. A superbill is an itemized receipt containing all necessary billing codes that you can submit directly to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many patients with PPO plans are able to recover a meaningful portion of their costs this way. As a board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Larios's services may carry stronger out-of-network reimbursement potential compared to other mental health providers depending on your plan. We encourage you to contact your insurance provider directly to understand your out-of-network benefits before your first appointment. We are actively pursuing insurance credentialing and anticipate accepting additional payment options in the near future. If you have any questions about costs or payment prior to booking please reach out through the Zocdoc platform and we will be happy to assist.
