Getting to know Dr. Anh-Thu Tran-Jacobs
Hello, I'm Dr. Tran. Do you feel like your psychiatric provider isn't listening and treating you like just another check on their checklist? Do you struggle with anxiety and mood issues that have been difficult to manage on your own or even with therapy? I'd like to help you manage your symptoms while also listening to your personal story to develop the best treatment plan for you. I am a board-certified psychiatrist who has been practicing in the Austin area for over 8 years. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical Branch. I have a particular interest in treating anxiety disorders, mood disorders, OCD, and psychotic disorders.
I truly believe that psychiatry is more than a list of diagnoses; it involves getting to know people rather than putting them in a box. I feel it is important to understand you as a whole person to provide the best care. I also enjoy collaborating with my patients and providing education so that together we can create a plan that makes you feel comfortable. I believe that working as a team is essential in this line of medicine.
Limitations to care:
Please be aware I do not 1. Conduct telemedicine visits with patients located outside of the state of Texas. 2. Prescribe controlled medications (e.g., stimulant medications for ADHD and benzodiazepines for anxiety) as I am unable to physically monitor for side effects due to my current telehealth format. 3. Write letters for emotional support animals. 4. Complete disability/FMLA paperwork for new patients.
What should a new client know about working with you?
In our first session, I will spend time to not only come to a diagnosis together but also get to know you and your history to better understand you as a whole. This will hopefully help to build a foundation for us to work together collaboratively in your mental health journey.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
