Getting to know Dr. Anne Rohs

Dr. Anne Rohs is board-certified in both adult and geriatric psychiatry and has over 10 years of experience. She currently practices at Talkiatry. She has extensive experience treating critically ill patients in hospital settings. This experience allowed her to hone skills necessary to care for individuals with complex psychiatric illnesses complicated by medical conditions. After completing residency training at Montefiore Medical Center, Dr. Rohs served an additional year as Senior Chief Resident for its adult psychiatry residency training program. She spent the next year as a fellow in Geriatric Psychiatry before her appointment as an attending physician on Montefiore's acute psychiatric inpatient unit. During her training years, Dr. Rohs made several trips to Uganda to serve as an attending physician with the Doctors for Global Health Project. Dr. Rohs subsequently transferred to Bronx Psychiatric Center (BPC), where she treated inpatients and outpatients suffering from severe mental disorders. At BPC, she expanded her knowledge base and became an expert in advanced psychopharmacology. Dr. Rohs also spent time prior to joining Talkiatry as an attending physician at NYU Langone Hospital. Dr. Rohs' approach to care involves providing a consistent, empathic, non-judgmental space to develop and attain shared treatment goals. She is committed to developing a partnership which is always respectful of patients' points of view, and she utilizes this knowledge to inform treatment plans that are safe, effective, and agreeable to patients. At the same time, she is sensitive to financial or insurance coverage factors that may impact treatment. Dr. Rohs specializes in treating a variety of psychiatric conditions including mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and dementia. She is attuned to the direct and indirect mental health impact of the pandemic and its aftermath on patients of all ages.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Dr. Anne Rohs practices at Talkiatry, a patient-centered, online psychiatry practice. Talkiatry providers specialize in medication management and treat a wide range of mental health conditions. They take a personalized approach to care, ensuring that treatment is rooted in a strong patient-provider relationship and a responsible, evidence-based approach to prescribing. We know that every mental health journey is unique, and we’re here to make yours feel manageable and supported at every step.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start with a comprehensive first visit, where you and your provider will discuss your goals, medical history, and what brings you to treatment. From there, you’ll work with your provider to create a care plan that feels right for you, which may include medication, therapy, or both. If your provider recommends medication, they’ll walk you through your options—our goal is always to help you make informed choices about your care. You’ll meet with your provider regularly for follow-up visits to check in, adjust your care as needed, and make sure you feel supported in your journey.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

I do Not advise! I asked the doctor if she would mind holding a minute being my doctor was calling me regarding my test results. She said yes! We were only 10 minutes into our initial conversation . I got bad news from my doctor and went to continue the video visit with Dr. Rohs and she had disconnected our video call. I was still in the waiting room assuming she would be back when the next thing I know. The police was banging on my door! She called 911 and told them I was suicidal and told her I was going to hurt myself!!! A blatant lie!!! When police arrived they saw I was not in any distress and was still in the waiting room for her to join back in the conversation. They tried calling her several times and she didn’t answer. I was traumatized by having 6 police officers and 4 paramedics in my house trying to take me to a psychiatric hospital. She never even reached out to me since!

Genuinely interested and professional!

Did not take my opinion into account at all. My goal was to get off of depression medication and get on Adderall because I feel hopeless about organizing my life with ADHD after a traumatic car accident and TBI. Poor analytical thinking - I’m not sad because I’m sad. I’m sad because of limited social interaction which is not the same thing as depression. It was a waste of an hour of my life. Continued evaluation without actually seeing me as I answered the questions, which is a psychological no-go. It makes everything so discouraging. Just go somewhere else. You deserve better care than this.
