About April Fogleman

April Fogleman, PhD, IBCLC, RD, works in private practice as a Registered Dietitian and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She also serves as an Associate Professor of Nutrition and Extension Specialist at North Carolina State University. April earned her BS, MS, and PhD in Nutritional Biochemistry from NC State University. She earned her RD from the University of Northern Colorado and her IBCLC from UNC Chapel Hill's School of Public Health. She teaches several courses related to nutrition, including an introductory nutrition course and classes on public health nutrition and maternal and infant nutrition. Her passions include teaching and mentoring students, working with patients to reach their health-related goals, and running her breastfeeding support group. April's nutrition-related areas of expertise include celiac disease, maternal and infant nutrition, sports nutrition, infant and child growth, and overall healthy lifestyle habits. She is a mother to three children and one dog, and her husband is a two-time cancer survivor.
