About April Goss

My love for nutrition started at a young age working in my father's grocery store. After graduating high school, I headed to culinary school, which was short-lived as I was unsure of my path in life at that time. I then completed a degree in marine biology and took a job in a restaurant. Eventually, I realized my true passion had always been food and nutrition, and I finally figured out which route I was meant to take. I packed up all of my belongings and made the long drive from New Jersey to Arizona to complete my education and dietetic internship at Arizona State University, where I graduated with my Master's in Nutritional Science. After graduating, I was lucky enough to take an outpatient counseling job where I gained experience with a wide variety of patients, including but not limited to weight loss, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, bariatric surgery, and more. I eventually moved on to a position at Mayo Clinic hospital systems, where I was again fortunate to gain experience in both enteral and parenteral nutrition while further honing my outpatient skills. I was trained to educate patients with cancer, kidney and liver disease, GI conditions, and many other medical diagnoses. As I've worked with various populations to help them achieve their nutrition goals, I find it always comes back to making the goals achievable for each individual and offering practical recommendations they can implement with a busy schedule. I understand the importance of balanced, easy-to-prepare meals, as I am a mom of three children aged four years and under, while working multiple jobs. I would love to take my experience and help others find food freedom-with less guilt and more empowerment in the nutrition choices they make each day.
