Marriage and Family Therapist
900 Ln Ave, Unit 126, Chula Vista, CA
Hola, I'm Arianna Quinonez (She/Her/Ella) and I am a Bilingual Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I received my Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!) and my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from San Diego State University. On my downtime I enjoy binge watching my favorite shows and movies (Emily in Paris, Inside out, Sweet Magnolias, The Cheetah Girls, etc.) For self-care, I love to travel or read a good book with some iced cafecito on the beach! I am extremely passionate about working within the Latinx community to strive towards making mental health more accessible, and utilizing my role to de-stigmatize barriers to make services more culturally attuned. I am also passionate about working with preteens (10-12), teenagers, young adults (18-28) that face issues such as anxiety, depression, transitional phases of life, anger, grief, BIPOC issues, 1st Gen. issues, etc. As for couples, friendships, and partnerships, I help work towards breaking patterns/cycles, managing conflict, and increasing communication and connection.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Some of my favorite approaches include Experiential Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, DBT, & CBT. While I use these modalities, I strive to incorporate a client-centered approach with a trauma-informed lens for all my clients. My main focus is to always implement a systemic framework as we all exist from the context we live in. How I help is by meeting the client where they are at. I believe it is important to let clients take the lead in their healing journey and help navigate their stressors and goals along the way. I enjoy bringing in a collaborative approach to work towards what works best for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe having our values and needs aligned both internally and externally with those around us allow our authentic selves to flourish. By doing so, I believe therapy is a safe space to create a deeper understanding of who you are while also strengthening relationships. I strive to have a balance of both humor and conversation in the therapy room. My goals in session are always to have a welcoming and affirming space to contribute to conversations that include building rapport, reflection, and coping techniques tailored to your needs.
