Getting to know Dr. Ariel Brown

*After booking, you will receive a link via IntakeQ to complete required intake forms prior to your appointment.* Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, or another mental health challenge and wondering if you're on the right path to feeling better? Taking that first step toward improving your mental health is crucial, and getting a thorough, accurate initial screening is often the key to effective treatment. The right diagnosis lays the foundation for a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs, ensuring you receive the most effective care possible. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, and substance use disorders, integrating various therapeutic approaches to provide comprehensive and personalized care. My training includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and supportive psychotherapy, which I blend to help you find the path to better mental health. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from Sidney Kimmel Medical College, completed my residency in Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and hold a bachelor's degree from Tufts University.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you come to see me, you can expect a compassionate, holistic approach that focuses on understanding you as a whole person. When developing a treatment plan, I believe in considering every aspect of your life – mind, body, spirit, relationships, and community. During our sessions, I will listen carefully to your concerns and symptoms, asking about your general health, medical history, and other relevant factors. This thorough process may take more than one session to complete, but it ensures that I have a clear understanding of your situation before moving forward with treatment options.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our work together, you can expect a collaborative process that begins with a detailed evaluation to accurately diagnose any underlying issues. Based on this evaluation, we will discuss the best treatment options for you, which may include psychotherapy, medication, or a combination of both. If medication is recommended, I approach it with caution and precision, aiming to use it only when necessary and in conjunction with other therapeutic approaches. I prioritize medications that are effective with minimal side effects, always considering your overall well-being and preferences. Throughout your treatment, I emphasize the importance of adhering to the prescribed regimen while supporting you in achieving the best possible outcomes in a way that aligns with your life and goals.
