Dr. Arif Patel is a board-certified adult psychiatrist. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. He also holds both a bachelor's and a master's degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Dr. Patel completed his residency training in psychiatry at Authority Health, an affiliate of Michigan State University. Additionally, he has completed a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Fellowship at the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute. He has 4 years of clinical experience. Dr. Patel's practice focuses primarily on medication management. Follow-up appointments are typically 30 minutes and incorporate elements of supportive psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing. He utilizes a collaborative approach to treatment, ensuring that plans align with patients' goals and values. Dr. Patel has extensive clinical experience in various psychiatric settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency care. Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

The session went great and Dr. Patel clearly assessed my condition. The one thing I did not like was that my being in NJ meant he was unable to prescribe the necessary medication via telemedicine which is the only way to see him. If I had known that I would’ve gone elsewhere. But overall a good experience.
