Asal is a REGISTERED DIETITIAN, BOARD-CERTIFIED DIETITIAN/NUTRITIONIST, and Certified Personal Trainer who serves Long Island and Queens outpatient services. She holds a Bachelor’s in Dietetics and Nutrition from the City University of New York, Queens, and completed an Internship in Dietetics at Oakwood University. She specializes in Medical Nutrition Therapy and Nutritional Counseling for individuals with nutrition-related health issues. Her mission is to reduce and prevent acute and chronic health issues related to obesity/weight management, PCOS, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, anemia, IBS, constipation, gout, arthritis, osteoporosis, malnutrition, and disordered eating in both pediatric and adult settings.

The doctor was very knowledgeable and detailed in explaining carbs and proteins to me, but I felt like my needs were not met in terms of help with nutritional advice and tips to support mental health and how to heal from childhood malnutrition. I was expecting more "gut health" details like from nutritional books/workbooks and/or diagrams but this appointment was based on the documents I filled out and verbal communication. I think that the doctor just specializes in other things like weight loss and heart issue nutritional support, but I was looking for an initial breakdown of the above and a personalized meal plan/goal for long-term bodily and mental health.
