Ashaki Patel, M.D. is a board-certified dermatologist specializing in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology with advanced fellowship training in cosmetic dermatology and laser surgery. She has extensive experience in lasers and other energy-based devices for skin rejuvenation, scar therapy, injectables including botox and fillers, fat loss treatments, skin tightening, body sculpting, chemical peels, sunscreens and hyperpigmentation.
Dr. Patel grew up in the Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg area before completing her undergraduate studies at Saint Louis University, graduating Magna cum laude with a degree in healthcare management. Dr. Patel received her medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine, and completed her dermatology residency at The Medical College of Wisconsin, serving as chief resident in her final year. Following residency, Dr. Patel was selected to complete a prestigious cosmetic and laser surgery fellowship at the Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital, one of the leading laser and cosmetic centers in the world.

The office itself was very nice and clean, but the front desk staff were very unfriendly. Other than handing me an iPad and asking for my license and insurance, they made no greeting, small talk, or eye contact whatsoever. It was not a great first impression. Once seen, the nurse practitioner that did my intake was wonderful. She was so kind. Dr. Patel was fine—she seemed like she was in a hurry and the whole appointment felt very rushed. However, she did prescribe a cream that helped clear something up within a few days. All in all, I am unsure that I would return back.

Pleasant, reassuring and had availability that wasn’t months away. That was great! The option to have had a complete body mapping as well would have been preferred though.

I went to three doctors before this doctor. All three doctors misdiagnosed the issue, provided the wrong treatment, made me suffer for a while, and finally I went to this doctor who actually figured it out right away. This is a very good doctor.

I was checked in immediately when I got to the office. It was maybe a 10 minute wait until I was brought into the room and discussed the issues I was there for with the intake personnel then I got my gown on and the Doctor came in, gave my exam, answered my questions and taught me a new term for age spots (wisdom marks) took a biopsy of a mole and I was on my way in just a little over an hour. Even though the appointment went quickly, I didn't feel like I was lacking in any attention or concern. I have found a new dermatologist.

I had to wait about 45 minutes before I was seen for my appointment. Then when she finally came in, she talked to me for 3 minutes and left, almost in a rush. she didn’t really seem to care about my problem or give me a solution. I had more questions but she almost ran out like she didn’t have time for me. My appointment felt like a waste of time. I really wanted to figure out my skin but all she told me was to moisturize… nothing groundbreaking. She didn’t really take the time to learn about my skin.
