Ashleigh McDonnell

Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
8950 E Germann Rd, Mesa, AZ
Over the past decade, I have practiced across a wide range of mental health care settings, including inpatient psychiatry, outpatient clinics, crisis and urgent care services, and integrative environments. My experience includes working with individuals living with serious mental illness, providing care on pediatric inpatient units, supporting patients in involuntary and court-ordered treatment settings, and serving in leadership roles within large psychiatric hospital systems across Arizona. These experiences have shaped a clinical approach that values consistency, nuance, and compassion, and that recognizes the complexity inherent in mental health care. As a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management for children, adolescents, and adults. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing and my Master of Science in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University. My clinical style is thoughtful and conservative, grounded in evidence based practice and guided by the understanding that medication is one component of comprehensive psychiatric care. I prioritize transparency, collaboration, and careful listening, and I work alongside individuals to develop treatment plans that are individualized, measured, and responsive to change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

We may come from different backgrounds. We may love, parent, worship, or walk through the world differently. But when you sit across from me, none of that changes how I show up for you. Because this work- this care- isn’t about who’s right. It’s about being honest. It’s about being human. Good psychiatry isn’t about hierarchy or credentials. It’s about building trust. It’s about creating space for your truth — however it looks — and honoring it with clinical integrity and deep respect. Here, there is no expectation to be anyone but yourself. Whether our lives align or look nothing alike, you will always be met with compassion, curiosity, and care. This is a space where vulnerability is strength, and where your story is safe.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Children & Teens We offer developmentally sensitive care for children and adolescents, with a focus on collaboration between provider, child, and caregivers. Common concerns we support include: ADHD and focus challenges Anxiety and school-related stress Behavioral and mood shifts Medication hesitancy and first-time evaluations Parent-provider collaboration and psychoeducation We recognize that early intervention can build lifelong resilience, and we aim to create a safe space where young clients and families feel supported. Adults Adult care at ANM Health is grounded in lived experience, clinical insight, and a deep respect for your goals. We commonly work with: Trauma and PTSD Mood instability or depression Life transitions (parenting, divorce, career shifts) Burnout and emotional exhaustion Medication-resistant symptoms Whether you’re starting treatment for the first time or looking to re-evaluate what’s working, our approach centers on practical, personalized support.
