“Ashley has been amazing with prioritizing our child's unique needs ( autism, adhd and anxiety/OCD- like behaviors) by working with us to address our son’s academic and behavioral challenges. She’s offered behavioral, nutritional, medical advice and treatment strategies that have benefitted our son at home and school. She is patient, kind, caring and listens to our concerns about medicine and treatment options. She makes us feel comfortable when sharing our concerns by not being pushy or judgmental. She provides professional recommendations that don’t just push medications. She offers support through teaching coping skills and nutritional advice and options. Our son has shown so much improvement at school behaviorally. We are so thankful to have Ashley in our corner and highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a natural, medicinal or combination approach. ”

Getting to know Ashley Collins

I’m a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and the founder of Armor Behavioral Health & Wellness. I specialize in helping children, teens, and adults navigate anxiety, ADHD, mood challenges, and behavioral concerns with a thoughtful, personalized approach. Many of the families I work with come in feeling overwhelmed or unsure of the “right next step.” My goal is to bring clarity, reduce stress, and create a plan that truly fits your child—not just a diagnosis. My approach is integrative and root-cause focused. While medication can be helpful, it’s only one piece of the picture. I also consider sleep, nutrition, lifestyle, stress, and underlying contributors to symptoms so we can support long-term improvement—not just short-term relief. Appointments are intentionally longer than typical psychiatry visits to allow time for thorough evaluation, education, and collaboration with family members. I believe families should feel informed, supported, and confident in their care plan. If you’re looking for a provider who takes the time to listen, explains the “why” behind recommendations, and partners with you in your child’s care, I’d be honored to work with your family. I offer a free 15-minute consultation call to discuss your reasons for seeking care and to determine if we’re a good fit. You can schedule your consultation through Zocdoc. I look forward to speaking with you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients should know that working with me is a more thoughtful and collaborative experience than typical psychiatry visits. I take time to truly understand the full picture—your or your child's symptoms, strengths, environment, and daily habits—so we can create a plan that is individualized and effective. Appointments are intentionally longer to allow for meaningful conversation, education, and shared decision-making. My approach is integrative and root-cause focused. While medication can be helpful, it is never the only tool we consider. I also provide cognitive behavioral therapy for ages 16 and up and look at factors like sleep, nutrition, stress, and overall lifestyle to support long-term improvement, not just symptom management. I work closely with families and other providers throughout the process and believe you should feel informed, supported, and confident in every step of treatment. My goal is not just to provide answers, but to help you and your family feel more at ease and equipped moving forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is designed to be thorough, collaborative, and tailored to each individual or family. We start with a comprehensive initial evaluation where I take time to understand the full picture—symptoms, history, daily routines, stressors, and strengths. This allows us to identify not just what is going on, but why. From there, we create a personalized treatment plan. This may include medication when appropriate, as well as therapy, lifestyle changes, nutrition support, or additional evaluation depending on your needs. Follow-up visits are used to monitor progress, make thoughtful adjustments, and provide ongoing support. I also prioritize education during visits so you feel confident and informed about each decision. Throughout the process, I work closely with patients, parents, and when appropriate, other providers to ensure care is coordinated and effective. My goal is to create a clear, manageable plan that supports long-term success—not just short-term symptom relief.
