Getting to know Ashley Kolb

I am a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who works with children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and life transitions. My work is especially centered on helping individuals and families understand big emotions, relational patterns, and the ways early experiences continue to shape how we show up in the present.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I approach therapy through a relational and systems-based lens, with a strong belief that symptoms do not exist in isolation. Whether I am working with a child or an adult, I view emotional reactions and coping strategies as meaningful responses developed over time. With children, this often means understanding behavior as communication. With adults, this can look like gently exploring inner child experiences, family-of-origin dynamics, and generational wounds that may still be influencing current relationships, self-worth, or anxiety.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My work integrates evidence-based practices with creativity, play, and developmentally appropriate interventions, helping clients feel safe enough to slow down, build emotional regulation skills, and develop insight with compassion rather than self-criticism. I have experience supporting generational trauma, anxiety, emotional regulation challenges, adjustment difficulties, family stress, and adults navigating attachment patterns, identity, and intergenerational dynamics. I believe therapy is helpful because it offers a space to be deeply understood without having to minimize, explain, or perform. Healing happens in relationship when people feel emotionally safe enough to reconnect with parts of themselves that learned to adapt in order to survive. Therapy Philosophy: Healing begins when we make sense of our experiences with compassion rather than judgment.
