Ashley Lewis, NP

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
GA
Citta - Mind.Body.Baby is a tele psychiatry practice specializing in mental health problems before, during, and after pregnancy. Ashley is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with an additional certification in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International. She received her graduate training from Georgia State University and Augusta University, along with fellowship training from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in behavioral/developmental pediatrics, the only one of its kind in the country for nurse practitioners. During her fellowship, Ashley’s training focused on early childhood development, specifically ages 0-3, and within this specialty she found a passion for maternal and infant mental health. In her practice, she witnessed the negative impact of undiagnosed and untreated PMADs on both mom and baby, but she never truly understood the lived experience until she developed postpartum depression and anxiety. After 20 years in the medical field caring for mothers, newborns, children, and families, she now works diligently to prevent and treat PMADs. Please note that due to Telehealth restrictions, Ashley does not prescribe controlled substances (e.g. stimulants such as Adderall or benzodiazepines such as Xanax).

What should a new client know about working with you?

My practice style is patient centered. I believe that patients know their bodies and minds better than any medical professional, and as a result my treatment plans are created WITH patients.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When patients book an initial consult, they will receive a link from Valant to the patient portal. Within the patient portal, patients can communicate directly with me, access the telehealth link, and complete the required intake documents. Please note, intake forms must be completed at least 24 hours prior to the visit to ensure the highest quality of care. The initial consult will last about 90 minutes, and your provider will take a comprehensive psychiatric, medical, pregnancy, and lifestyle history. From there, they may order labs, send referrals, coordinate care with your OB/GYN, request records from other providers, etc. It may take additional sessions to adequately determine the best plan of care and treatment. Follow-up visits will last about 45 minutes and may include talk therapy. Separate visits may also be scheduled to therapy without medication management. Additionally, we offer preconception counseling and consultation visits.
