Ashley Wilson, CCC - SLP, SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist
IN
Hi! I'm Ashley. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2021. I decided I wanted to be an SLP as a senior in high school. Around the time I was trying to make a career and college decision, 3 important people in my life started seeing a speech therapist. My family friend with down syndrome (15 yo) was telling me how much she loved her new speech therapist, my cousin was born with a cleft palate and seeing speech therapy regularly, and my Grandma was diagnosed with Parkinson's and enrolled in voice therapy with an SLP. This was when I first discovered how one profession can make a difference across the lifespan and I have enjoyed every step of the way since! I am so grateful to be able to help people of all ages regain their independence, communication, and quality of life! I have worked in settings such as inpatient rehabilitation hospital, home health, school via telehealth. I have completed training in the Lingraphica Certification Program, allowing me to provide adults with Aphaisa the resources to learn and obtain their own personal high tech AAC device. I have taught Stroke education and Aphaisa support group courses, providing people in the community with resources and support to improve their independence and quality of life. I am trained in MBSImp and FEES swallow studies. I have also supervised others to learn and perform FEES. I would describe my clinical style as client-centered, functional, individualized/personalized, family-centric, and rooted in client empowerment to create self-advocates.
