“I had a concern while I was in the program and asked to speak with the nurse manager. I was frustrated and honestly expected to get a generic answer. He listened to what happened, asked questions, and didn't immediately take sides. I didn't necessarily hear everything I wanted to hear, but what impressed me was that he followed up afterward instead of letting the conversation disappear. I felt like my concern was taken seriously while expectations and boundaries were still kept clear.

“Honestly I was really anxious before this appointment because I wasn't sure how comfortable I would be opening up but Augustine was really calm and easy to talk to. I didn’t feel pressured or like I had to explain things perfectly.
I also loved that he asked me followup questions about things I mentioned earlier, it made me feel like he was actually listening. Yes some of the questions were tough to face, but I understood why they were being asked.
Oversll I enjoyed the session and can’t wait for the next one. I’m definitely feeling more comfortable than when I came in!”

Augustine Mensah, MSN, BSPH, APRN, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Aura Integra Behavioral Health, PLLC, a telehealth practice serving patients across Massachusetts. He completed his graduate training at the University of South Alabama and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice with a subspecialty in Addictions Nursing.
Augustine's clinical focus spans psychiatric evaluation and medication management, addiction medicine and medication-assisted treatment (Suboxone, Vivitrol), ADHD across the lifespan, autism spectrum psychiatric support, and dual diagnosis care for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. He brings years of frontline experience from substance use disorder detoxification, adult behavioral health treatment, and nurse leadership within one of Massachusetts's largest community health systems.
His approach is warm, evidence-based, and non-judgmental. Augustine believes that meaningful psychiatric care begins with being heard and that recovery, stability, and well-being are possible for every patient. He works collaboratively with individuals to build treatment plans that honor their goals, values, and lived experience, whether that involves medication, coordination with therapy, or long-term recovery support.

What I remember most was being treated with dignity when I wasn't feeling like myself and needed more help than I was used to accepting. He explained what was happening instead of just coming in and doing things without talking to me. Even when things were busy, I felt like my questions mattered. There were moments when I could tell the staff had a lot going on, but I never felt like I was being treated as a problem. That respect stayed with me.

I actually left my first interaction a little frustrated because I came in with a specific expectation and things didn't move as quickly as I wanted. What changed my impression was that he took the time to explain why he wanted to understand more before moving forward. I never felt talked down to or judged for asking questions. Looking back, I appreciated that he was willing to have an uncomfortable conversation while still making me feel respected and involved.

I appreciated how straightforward he was with me. He didn't just tell me what I wanted to hear, but he also didn't make me feel dismissed. When I had concerns, he took the time to explain his thinking in a way that made sense and gave me room to ask questions. I felt involved in the conversation instead of being talked at. The appointment was more detailed than I expected, but by the end I understood why. Overall, I felt respected and heard.

I've had mixed experiences with behavioral health providers, so I came in pretty guarded. I liked that he didn't seem bothered by that or try to force me to trust him immediately. He was respectful, direct, and explained things when I questioned them. There were a couple of things we didn't completely agree on, but I never felt like my concerns were ignored. By the end of the visit, I felt more comfortable being honest than I expected to

Overall, I had a good experience. I felt listened to and didn't feel judged when talking about things that are normally difficult for me to discuss. He explained things clearly and included me in the conversation instead of making decisions feel one-sided. My only criticism is that the first visit was very thorough and I wasn't expecting quite that many questions. I think knowing that beforehand would have helped me prepare. Other than that, I appreciated that the appointment didn't feel rushed.

I was a little skeptical going into my first visit because I've had appointments before where I felt rushed or like the provider had already made up their mind. This felt different. He asked a lot of questions, but I felt like he was actually trying to understand what I was saying instead of just checking boxes. I appreciated that I could ask questions and didn't feel judged when I was honest about things I was uncomfortable discussing.
