“Overly paternalistic communication practices in this doctor's office need to change. For example, the patient portal only allows you to send email messages about refill requests of the medicines that the office has listed for you. The list does not necessarily correlate with your medical records (in my case at least). Users are not given the ability to change the list. Even though I gave an accurate list of medications during my visit through a form filled out via ZocDoc, the practice didn't list my current medications correctly. I couldn't find any other way to message the office staff or doctor through the portal. I believe this is an unusual breech of health communication standards. In addition, they didn't facilitate health communication between my disabled adult child and me causing potential healthcare mismanagement of my kid's issues. What you can message about from the portal is overly controlled: refill, lab, and referral requests, immunization form, and data restriction.”

Dr. Schachter was very professional and cordial; he was about his work, not distracted at all, but a great listener AND communicator. Excellent bedside manner. I was also pleased with the staff, and the office was nice. Somehow, the doctor's approach motivated me to take better care of myself!
