Psychologist
VA
Family conflict, depression, anxiety, psychosis, addiction, body dissatisfaction, eating disorders, identity crisis, trauma, and problematic sexual behaviors are just a few of the challenges many individuals experience daily, so you are not alone. I believe that through therapy, everyone has the ability to develop skills to overcome or manage these challenges and live healthy, fulfilling lives. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, I assist clients in working through the foundational components that lead to emotional experiences and behaviors which create barriers to their life goals. I believe that each person is unique; as a result, each individual's treatment is specifically tailored to meet their needs. I strive to meet each client where they are, with the understanding that each individual is doing the best they can at the time with the resources available. I obtained my Ph.D. in Health Psychology with a Clinical concentration in 2014 and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology in 2003, both from Virginia State University. I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider with over 15 years of experience providing mental health and substance abuse services and 10 years of experience working with individuals with problematic sexual behaviors. Throughout my career, I have worked primarily with adolescents and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds in community, hospital, and correctional settings. In addition to therapy services, I have an extensive background in psychological and psychosexual assessment, which I use to identify treatment issues and inform academic and medical providers. I evaluate cognitive capabilities, executive functioning, attention/concentration, socio-emotional, personality, and behavioral functioning.

I thought I was going to be getting a full second opinion done with Dr. Barbara, but they told me to wait for someone to send over my assessment. Two-three days later I still haven’t received the assessment that they told me they were sending to my email. Would definitely not recommend seeing her, unless you are willing to wait for a long time.
