Getting to know Barbara Reed

I provide comprehensive psychiatric care with a focus on medication management and brief psychotherapy. With expertise in treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, and mood disorders, partnering with clients to create personalized care plans that promote healing, stability, and long-term wellness.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Collaborative Care I believe treatment works best when it's a partnership. You'll be actively involved in decisions about your care, and we'll work together to find the best approach for your needs and goals. Medication Management If medications are recommended, I'll explain options clearly -- including benefits, side effects, and alternatives -- so you feel informed and comfortable. Follow-up visits focus on monitoring effectiveness, adjusting as needed, and ensuring your safety. Brief Psychotherapy In addition to medication, I provide supportive and goal-focused psychotherapy. Sessions may include practical strategies for managing stress, building coping skills, and improving daily functioning. Respect & Compassion I know it takes courage to seek help. My role is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you are heard, respected, and supported every step of the way. Holistic Approach Your mental health is connected to all aspects of your life. I consider not just symptoms, but also lifestyle, stressors, relationships, and physical health in creating your care plan.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Getting to Know You – At your first visit, I’ll take time to understand your concerns, history, and what you’re going through right now. Clear, Thorough Evaluation – We’ll look at symptoms, past treatments, and use simple tools if needed to better understand your situation. Open Conversation – I’ll explain what I think might be happening in plain language, and you’ll have the chance to ask questions. Personalized Care Plan – Together, we’ll decide on next steps — this may include medication, therapy, or practical strategies to support your well-being. Ongoing Support – As we move forward, we’ll check in regularly and adjust the plan so it continues to fit your needs.
