I have been involved in the field of psychiatry since 1994 and have a strong passion for my work. Since 1999, I have been working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, taking on various roles across diverse environments. My commitment is to support you in achieving your best life while effectively managing your symptoms.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

What to expect when working with a new client: First, I will do an extensive mental health history and assess your current symptoms as well any relevant medical history. This may include the completion of questionnaires, interviews and discussions regarding your lifestyle generally about support systems etc. Following assessment, I will formulate an individualized treatment plan which ranges from medication management to therapy alongside lifestyle changes and additional interventions. I write prescriptions, and manage their meds with discussions around side effects/benefits etc. I will review how well it works and change the plan if necessary. My patients can be referred for psychotherapy or counseling, providing them with a range of therapeutic methods to alleviate symptoms and other support. I would work collaboratively with other healthcare providers, ie PCPs, therapists and specialists for continuity of care. I provide clients with information on diagnoses, treatment options and coping strategies. I refer them to other resources for support groups or more information. I will protect your confidentiality as it pertains to treatment and personal information, creating a safe atmosphere for open communication. You will also have regular follow-up visits to check how well you are doing, examine for any problems or new symptoms and adjust your treatment plan if needed. I approach mental health from a biopsychosocial perspective, including the physical self(health), personal emotions and social environment as essential elements in healing. I aim to empower the clients by working with them in decision-making regarding their care and advocating for them within the system. Strategies for Coping in a Crisis and Emergency contact information or access to immediate resources can be shared, if needed.
