Getting to know Barry Singleton

Hello! I’m Barry "Dirk" Singleton (PMHNP-BC, IPP-C) from Liminal Space Mental Health, and I am glad you are here. I wanted to give a kind reminder of a few policies upfront to ensure that we are on the same page: ***I only provide care for anxiety (including generalized anxiety, stress, burnout, perfectionism, OCD, social anxiety, panic, phobias), self-esteem, coping skills, low mood and depression at this time.*** ***At Liminal Space Mental Health, we do not currently prescribe controlled substance including benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium, Ativan, Klonopin), stimulants (such as Ritalin or Adderall), or sleep aids (such as Lunesta or Ambien).*** ***I am Out-of-Network. I accept "Self-Pay" clients only. This means that I do not accept any type of Medicaid, Medicare, or commercial insurance. "Self-Pay" means care is paid by you directly with credit or debit card at the time of each visit.*** A few words about perspective: It is important that we all recognize the potential in one another to be resilient and empowered–as well as the possibility that we may each face challenges that are too much to overcome on our own. My goal is to empower your mental health journey by exploring your unique life story and investigating how each aspect of your body, mind, and spirit impacts your mental health… and then support you in finding lasting balance. Whatever challenges you may be facing, there is still an opportunity for you to take action to write your own story–I am here to support you in a truly collaborative process. I am here to provide a mindful presence, support, treatment options/alternatives, an open mind, and an unbiased perspective.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I support clients in finding their balance in life, relationships, and in themselves. I have over 32 years experience in mindfulness practice, which I find is essential in supporting and empowering clients through life's challenges. I use humor, presence, and empathy to connect with others. My style is relaxed and genuine. In a safe, non-judgmental space, we will explore your symptoms, your story, your present awareness, your somatic (body) awareness, and your whole person–mind, body, spirit–to come to a collaborative plan to to support and empower you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

If you choose You-Centered, Holistic Mental Health Care at Liminal Space Mental Health, know that you will be in an environment that is open, safe, and unhurried. Your initial consultation/evaluation session(s) will be an opportunity to get to know one another while evaluating the current challenges you face. We will work together to craft a holistic treatment plan that is unique to your needs. This is your mental health care, so the focus is on YOU. The treatment plan may include medication, nutraceuticals/supplements, somatic-focused talk therapy, mindfulness, lab/diagnostic testing, and lifestyle choices depending on your needs and references. Continuing care will always stay grounded in a collaborative and holistic approach. Your input is necessary in tailoring and altering the care and support you are receiving to fit your needs. This is You-Centered care.
