Dr. Desir is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist who completed her undergraduate training at The University of Scranton followed by medical school at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed psychiatry residency at Nassau University Medical Center where she served as the Administrative Chief Resident in her final year. Dr. Desir has been in practice for 4 years and has provided patients with compassionate psychiatric care. She has worked in community mental health settings throughout her career in which she served a wide variety of patient populations. Dr. Desir is experienced in treating various psychiatric illnesses including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, and ADHD.
At the heart of Dr. Desir's clinical approach is a strong emphasis on establishing trust and building a therapeutic relationship. She also provides psychoeducation to help patients make informed decisions regarding their care. She works collaboratively with patients to develop individualized treatment plans to help them achieve their goals.
Dr. Desir's practice focuses on medication management. Typically, she offers this in conjunction with supportive or emotionally focused therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. Occasionally, Dr. Desir may believe that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

I signed up for an appointment on Zocdoc, received multiple confirmations from Zocdoc and the provider confirming my appointment, up to the day of the appointment. When my appointment comes at 11:30am, I still have no email from the provider to log in for the session. So, I call the number that's provided, and they have absolutely no record of my appointment. They would not acknowledge that I signed up through Zocdoc and did not seem to care that I had received these notifications.

It was a virtual appointment, so I can't comment on the office experience, but Dr. Desir was very punctual and efficient with my intake and understanding the reason for my visit. She was very thorough, easy to talk to, and had a calming demeanor, which I found helpful since I was nervous for my first-ever visit.

Very friendly and clear communication throughout the appointment. She was a great listener and made sure to manage our time well to make sure she got all the information she needed during the initial appointment. Comprehensive questioning and definitely wants to make sure she provides the correct care for her patients. I would highly recommend her to anyone. Convenient scheduling as well.

I did not feel that she was clear or made the intentions of the appointment clear. I walked away more confused. Also, I prefer a psychiatry practice that spends a little more time evaluating me. In my opinion, a 45min long evaluation is not enough time to accurately diagnose most people.
If you prefer more time, find another location.
