What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a compassionate, respectful, and collaborative approach. I believe the best outcomes happen when you feel comfortable sharing your concerns openly, so I strive to create a judgment-free environment where you feel heard and understood. During our first visit, I'll take time to learn about your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, strengths, and treatment goals. I encourage questions and believe it's important that you understand your diagnosis, treatment options, and the reasons behind any recommendations. Together, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan that aligns with your needs and preferences. My goal is not simply to prescribe medication, but to partner with you throughout your mental health journey. When appropriate, I combine medication management with education, supportive therapy, and practical coping strategies to help you build lasting improvements in your overall well-being. I want every patient to leave our visits feeling informed, supported, and hopeful about the path forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation designed to help me understand you as a whole person—not just your symptoms. We'll discuss your current concerns, medical and mental health history, family history, lifestyle, sleep, stressors, previous treatments, and the goals you hope to achieve through care. After completing a thorough assessment, I'll explain my diagnostic impressions, answer your questions, and review treatment options with you. If medication is appropriate, we'll discuss the potential benefits, risks, side effects, and alternative approaches so you can make an informed decision. I believe treatment works best when it's a collaborative process, and you feel comfortable with the plan we create together. Follow-up visits focus on monitoring your progress, discussing any changes in symptoms, evaluating medication effectiveness and side effects when applicable, and making adjustments as needed. I also incorporate supportive therapy, psychoeducation, and practical coping strategies during our sessions to help you develop healthy skills and achieve lasting improvement. My goal is to ensure you feel heard, supported, and actively involved in your care every step of the way.
