Dr. Bhargava Gannavarapu is a Board Certified Gastroenterologist. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science/The Chicago Medical School. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Irvine, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, NM. Dr. Gannavarapu further advanced his training with a fourth-year fellowship in Advanced Endoscopy at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. Before starting his practice in San Jose, he was on staff at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago, IL, as an Interventional Gastroenterologist.
Dr. Gannavarapu specializes in therapeutic interventional endoscopy, focusing on minimally invasive endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). His clinical expertise centers on the diagnosis and management of pancreaticobiliary diseases such as biliary obstruction, pancreatitis, and pancreatic cancer. Additional areas of focus include endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for early gastrointestinal malignancy, including large colon polyps; management of Barrett's Esophagus, including radiofrequency ablation; staging and palliation of gastrointestinal malignancies; and bariatric endoscopy.

Doctor was nice and knowledgeable. But I was expecting more physical check than only talking. Also in other medical provider, it’s front desk’s job to call insurance and do the math, but I was told explicitly that I need call and do the math, which is annoying.

Great doctor, polite staff. Only complaint was that the wait time was over an hour- the doctor was very apologetic though in explaining the reason. Great bedside manner, have booked a follow up appt as well. Would recommend.

I took an Uber all the way from SF to Mountain View since Dr. Gana was the only specialist available, but it ended up being a blessing in disguise. He was knowledgeable, helpful, and made it a priority that my subsequent procedure was scheduled quickly. He even called me hours later to check up. But most importantly he made me feel seen and identify with my pain. Hearing him say "you are not dying, but I know you truly feel that way" was a huge boost to my recovery in a time I needed it most.
