Getting to know Dr. Biliki Douglas

Hello! Are you struggling? Feeling alone in your pain? Do you wish someone could listen and help you understand why this emotional pain won't go away? Are you looking for a way to feel better? My name is Dr. Biliki “Billie” Douglas. I am a Board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Wilmington University. I also hold a Master's in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Walden University and a Bachelor's degree from Bowie State University. I have been in nursing for over twenty-five years, and caring for people is my passion. After spending several years as a bedside nurse in various capacities-from emergency room (ER) to end-of-life care-I came to understand and appreciate the importance of treating the “whole” person-body and mind. As a nurse psychiatrist, I take pride in listening to my patients to understand their concerns and struggles, meet them where they are, and provide the help they need. When you work with me, I aim to partner with you on your mental “wholeness” journey. I provide guidance while following your lead. I encourage and support your autonomy and decision-making ability about your care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am certified to treat patients of all ages (child, adult, and older adult) and I have successfully cared for individuals struggling with various mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, mood disorder, ADHD, sleep disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, thought disorders, and many more. I am here to support and help you. With my vast knowledge, experience, and expertise, I am confident we can work together to create a treatment plan suitable for your overall mental health. Everyone has a purpose in life; everyone has their "Why" and the wind beneath their wings that propels them in life. Let me support you to find the wind beneath your wings!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I use an evidence-based practice approach to treat my patients. This approach includes using assessment tools and interviews to obtain adequate presenting symptoms that allow me to formulate an effective treatment plan. I also include talk therapy in sessions when needed.
