“The only issue I experienced during the appointment was with the technology. We were unable to connect through Headway as planned, which delayed the start of the session by about eight minutes while we switched over to Zoom. The Zoom call worked fine, but it may have been more efficient to start there if Headway wasn’t functioning. Additionally, the psychiatrist’s audio quality was poor. It sounded as though they were speaking from a large room or hallway, which made it difficult to hear clearly and required extra concentration to follow the conversation.”

Getting to know Dr. Blessing Ugbor

It takes strength to seek help, and that matters here. Whether you're new to this mental health journey or continuing from a prior point, the process shouldn’t feel overwhelming or like you’re starting from scratch. It should feel clear, thoughtful, and tailored to you—not rushed or one-size-fits-all. I’m a doctorally prepared, board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, psychosis, and more complex conditions, including those continuing treatment and seeking a more attentive and consistent approach, without adding more stress to your plate.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take a collaborative, patient-centered approach to care, combining medication management with practical, supportive interventions. I take time to listen and understand your story, what has or hasn’t worked, and what you’re hoping to feel differently; then we create a treatment plan tailored to your needs. I prioritize clear communication and ensure you understand the rationale behind all recommendations. If you’re already on medication, we’ll review things thoughtfully; I don’t make unnecessary changes, and any adjustments are made with your input and comfort in mind. My goal is to provide effective, evidence-based care while helping you feel supported, informed, and actively involved in your treatment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During the first session, we’ll take time to understand your concerns, symptoms, history, and goals for treatment. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to get a full picture and begin identifying patterns that may be contributing to what you’re experiencing. We’ll discuss initial impressions, potential diagnoses if appropriate, and review treatment options. I aim to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable being open. You can expect clear explanations and a manageable plan. The goal is not just symptom relief, but helping you feel more steady, focused, and in control over time so you can function at your best.
